This is a thread devoted primarily to the discussion of golf. Anything pertaining to the subject -- be it moral, philosophical, theological, biological, psychological, etc -- goes. You can also discuss other forms of putting balls into hole games if you wish.
I'll start the thread off by giving my own personal feelings on the subject.
Personally, I don't buy into the false dichotomy that golf playing is either a choice or something that a person is born with. The causes of golf playing in humans probably vary between individuals.
I don't believe that golf players can be reoriented into racket sportsmen. Reparative therapy may cause patients with latent polo desires to develop into tennis players, but it won't cause them to lose their golfing desires.
Due to my upbringing, I'll never be fully comfortable with golf. I believe golf players have the right to live their lives the way they want to live them, though, and so I will do nothing to dissuade or hinder them from doing so.
