Meh. No big deal. I don't really expect the Bears to do too well anymore considering half their starting lineup is out for the season. This season's shot.

But hey, we still beat the PACKERS!!!!

Sorry, Motti.

You need to amend your statement to read "although they lost last weekend in a good match against the colts and yesterday as well against the giants and the week before that to the Bears. aie aie."

Holy Hell! The Pack traded Mike McKenzie!

Quote

Saints Acquire Veteran Cornerback McKenzie

NEW ORLEANS (Sports Network) - The New Orleans Saints (news) Monday acquired cornerback Mike McKenzie (news) and a future conditional draft choice from Green Bay. In exchange, the Packers received a second-round pick in 2005 and quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan (news).

New Orleans agreed to pay the remainder of McKenzie's contract, which runs through the 2006 season.

McKenzie, who is in his sixth NFL season, has been a starter at left cornerback for Green Bay since his rookie year. In 70 career games, he has posted 284 tackles (235 solo), 15 interceptions, a sack and a fumble recovery.

The Memphis product has played in one contest this season (9/19 vs. Chicago), where he had one pass defensed.

McKenzie was coming off a stellar 2003 campaign, where he had four interceptions, including one for a 90-yard touchdown, and 57 tackles (51 solo).

O'Sullivan, a 6-2, 220-pounder out of Cal-Davis, is fresh off a solid campaign in NFL Europe. The third-year NFL player led the Frankfurt Galaxy to the 2004 World Bowl championship as he went 120-of-196 for 1,527 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ranked second in the league with a 91.9 passer rating.

The Packers were in need of another quarterback after releasing former No. 1 pick Tim Couch (news) earlier this year. The urgency for a signal caller became even more apparent when All-Pro signal-caller Brett Favre (news) was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Giants with a concussion. Currently, the only other quarterbacks on Green Bay's roster are Doug Pederson (news) and Craig Nall (news).

I wish I could find the article again...

I've read about 4 different articles about the McKenzie trade. One of them had a cool line saying essentially:
The last time the Packers traded for a fresh, lower-round QB was in 1991. We all remember him. It was Brett Favre, acquired from the Atlanta Falcons.

quoting the Packers media guide:

Quote

1991
Was a second-round draft selection by the Falcons (33rd overall and third quarterback, after Dan McGwire and Todd Marinovich)…Completed 14 of 32 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception, in the preseason…Active for three games during the regular season, he played in two (Oct. 27 vs. L.A. Rams and Nov. 10 at Washington), attempting five passes without a completion in Redskins contest. (a 12-yarder in the second quarter and a 28-yarder in the third period) while completing 15 of 26 passes for 204 yards overall…Threw two more TD passes in losing effort (27-17) in divisional playoff at Dallas the following week (Jan. 16) — a 2-yarder to Brooks and a 29-yarder to Sharpe…Closed out day with 28 completions in 45 attempts for 331 yards (one yard short of Packers' single-game playoff record) and two TDs.

Ron Wolf was with...the Jets I believe, during that draft, and he was going to draft Brett, but Atlanta got him first (Jets might have had the next pick). When Wolf went to Green Bay, he saw the chance to get Brett, and made the trade.

hey!!! My thread's been revived.

I'll read back throught the other posts now to see if nething interesting was said...

I don't see the whole point to the argument over what Rush said...it was his opinion, not a fact...oh well. It does remind me, however, that I haven't said that I am a Jets fan at heart, but if I had to pick an NFC team to go to the Super Bowl to face anyone but the Jets, I want it to be the Eagles. Both teams seem to bee doing damn good though, NYJ 3-0 & PHI 4-0!!! Two more simple match-ups 4 the Jets then they face the champs...NE.

Does anyone know a way to stream or dl recent football games? They don't air the Jets or the Eagles in Cali.
I just hate stupid people.

I think you can stream games live through NFL.com, but I may be wrong. Might require a paid subscription. There's also the NFL Sunday Ticket from one of those dish subscription services if you have the right service.

Yeah, NFL.com does have a pay system, but I'm not THAT big of a fan & the dish will show me all games I want, but since I don't curently pay for my Digital Cable, changing it is out of the question. Good news for me though, they are playing the SF 49ers soon, which will be on the air, as well as a monday night game.

Id really like to see the upstart Seahawks hand the Patriots their first loss in over a year. I have a lot of respect for the Pats as a team, but I dont like when there is a powerhouse like that present in pro sports. (Id consider the Yankees as of late to be one of these types of teams, though I wouldnt be suprised if the Sox actually win, that would be awesome). Anyhow, back to the topic. I think the Seahawks could win, especially if they are pumped, and even more so if the Pats think it will be a breeze. The only thing working against the Seahawks, IMO, is their receivers. They are pretty fast and strong, but they dont have the best hands.

I guess we'll see.

Man...I wish I could watch these various games. It would give me a better idea of the match-ups. The Pats, from what I've seen & heard, will need either bad luck or a VERY good team to take them. &, it doen't look like the Seahawks are exactly a good team, their wins have come from teams like Tampa Bay & SF; plus they lose to teams that the Pats have no problem with. But, that doesn't mean that their offenses & defenses won't match up differently. & if the Seahawks don't do it, the Jets r up next. Another team like the Seahawks, which has only played the easy teams - Chargers, Dolphins, Bills, & Bengals. To tell the truth, I think the Pats will have at least three more easy games, They face the Steelers the week after the Jets. As I look at the Pat's schedual, yet another easy game follows the Steelers -- the Rams. Then the Bills & the Chiefs. I counted six predicted wins up there, added to 4 already, they have ten; then I know they play the Browns, Bengals, 49ers. Dolphins, & Jets. Looks like no matter what, they r going to the playoffs this year.

Yeah, they will most definitely, barring some catastrophic twist, make the playoffs. I think the Seahawks, Jets, and Steelers are the only teams you listed in their schedule who have a chance at beating them. Man, now that you look at their schedule this year is a cake walk. But honestly, the number of really solid teams in the NFL this year is pitiful.
Its funny, I really thought the Falcons were going to manage, but they lost to the Lions. Not that the Lions arent better this year than they have been in a long time, but sheesh...come on.

The truly sad thing is that there are only TWO teams that have the chance of beating the Pats. The Jets, like I said b4, have five easy games in a row. & they struggled in some of them. (THey most certainally won't this week though...lol)

I was looking at the lions a little last year & I noticed that they were having some good games, & that caused me to think nothing of them doing well at all this year. A team that does surprise me however is the Giants. I thought they were nobodies last year...something like 4-12? They already have 4 wins. I think they are going somewhere.
