Hope this time it will be OK... (^^,) - latest version updated in the first post.
About "The Thing": you MUST get it! OR, if you have patience, you could always wait for V.2 - don't know when I will do it, but it will be done for sure... sooner or later...
That looks great to me, Andrea. Good work :)
If you have an improved version of The Thing coming, then count me in for that!
I have the HD-DVD (both original and my own HD->Blu-Ray conversion) to tide me over until you get V.2 out.
To be honest, I looked at the screenshot comparisons, and thought it was a little under-saturated, but that's probably because I'm used to the HD-DVD and DVD. I have no idea how this looked theatrically, so I have no frame of reference. But really looking forward to it especially since it has the original audio in glorious PCM.
Come to think of it, a under-saturated look really should fit the film, since the film is so bleak and nihilistic. And of course, things tend to look different on a calibrated TV rather than my PC monitor, which has limited calibration settings.

The Thing is definitely worth getting… the colors are better than anything else out there right now and the audio options can't be beat (I am a sucker for the original laserdisc PCM, it sounds fantastic in surround). I had some trouble writing it to disc (it always glitches during the helicopter scene — it may have been an error that occurred when I downloaded it because I've tried it on both my Mac and my PC), so I am very eager for V.2.
I believe the commentary from the 2007 version is the one that was recorded for the Criterion laserdisc, with John Carpenter, Debra Hill and Jamie Lee Curtis commenting separately.
It seems that a lot of people love Andrea's version of The Thing. I'm getting excited just thinking about the audio options on it. I can confirm if the 2007 BD commentary and Criterion are the same once I get the Halloween project downloaded, as I have the 2007 track here.
