Darth Maul could've been the Darth Vader of the PT had he not been killed off so early)Darth Vader was a developed character with an arc.
Darth Maul was a throwaway villain with no personality and as you say, he dies before anything compelling could come of him.So it's a pretty useless comparison to draw if it hinges on a hypothetical "If they'd done it differently" scenario. Just saying.
Okay first of all, way to completely take a quote out of context. I'd ask you to remember that i was simply saying that's what OTHER people had said he could've been. Second, the whole point is that it's a useless comparison. Even if Boba Fett is named, we still don't know what he's like as a person, what species he is, how old he is etc. only his name. With Clint Eastwood in the dollars trilogy, we do know what kind of person he is, what he looks like, approximately how old he is etc. so him having no name does add to the mystery. Heck, you could even make the argument that Boba Fett isn't even his real name, just an underworld codename he goes by (which would REALLY make him similar to the man with no name if you insist that's what he's supposed to be).
Also, in response to the whole "real life" thing, in real life people don't use the force to gain inner wisdom, or have droids get them out of trash compactors they fell into while trying to rescue a princess. These are movies. And if that's such a concern, have Han say it with obvious fear in his voice, like Fett's the last person he would want to see, because he knows the type of stuff he's done. Lastly, ANW did this very type of thing twice. Leia introduced Darth Vader and Tarkin this way, should we cut out those?
