A little analyzing also shows it could've been better. I started with the same DVD (2004) frame ..

.. and, wow, is it really that dark? Yes, with lots of black crush, too:

(crushed R-G-B areas are shown by inverting them to their maximum color).
Anyway, the overall darkness was fixed just to see what was being worked on:

The frame from the THX 1138 Remix ..

.. is trimmed, re-sized, superimposed, and aligned:

Extraneous celluloid is trimmed away and ..

.. hmmm. Not allot of 35mm picture here.

Oh well, back to the scope print search. :)
