You really didn't like that line? I was just going through a bunch of Star Wars "transfers" I have and found that the 3PO line appears in the SE and ESE (Extra Special Edition) as well as the '89 and '92 LD re-release. I watched and re-watched this scene with and without that line and I thought the scene just seemed odd without it.

In the versions that do not include the 3PO line the camera pans from the computer to Luke, Han, Ben and R2 and everyone just has this bored look on their face... kind of awkward. In the versions that include 3PO's line the camera still pans to a bored looking Han and Luke but the audio snippet of 3PO relaying the information R2 has found out about how to deactivate the tractor beam just fills in the awkward space and makes sense.

Maybe we should take a poll.... is this scene worth reviving for the OOT? Keep in mind this sound byte was added before the Special Editions but no, it was not in the original '77 release.

As for the snowspeeder sound byte... can someone refresh my memory on that one?
