Yes, Disney did foreign language versions for scenes with text, AT LEAST from "Snow White" to "Lady and the Tramp". "The Little Mermaid" also had the actual title ( with the ripple effect) in Portuguese, and if my memory serves me right, I think its first vhs release still included that.

It's a pity earlier foreign versions of the Disney features are left to rot in some vault. As I've mentioned in an earlier post, The Brazilian versions are not only historically interesting, they feature important artists early on in their careers, and since the redubbing began in the 1960's, before home video, not even snippets are available... A shame!
