While I don't consider Rush's statements necessarily racist, I do think they were incorrect. I've watched every Eagles game since McNabb was drafted. He carried that team, as he WAS the offense (Thrash, Pinktston, Freddie Mitchell and all the running backs have been marginal at best, and he was able to win with them). Not to mention Andy Reid's ultra-conservative offensive scheme doesn't compliment McNabb's playmaking style at all, and he was able to succeed in spite of it. Sure they had good defenses too, but defense alone doesn't get you to 3 NFC championship games in a row. Culpepper would seem to have been a better target, but that would have been off the mark too.
