Maybe because they are grown adults who shouldn't be forced to DO anything, especially if they are reasonably compensated for not doing what other people assume they should do.

so let me get this straight, you are concerned about grown adults being forced against there will to take a paid off, but you don't give a damn about other grown adults being forced to work a holiday thus ruining said holiday for them and there families and also said holiday meal?

Yeah, you make absolutely no sense to me. No one gets upset about being given a paid day off for holiday they don't celebrate. I've never heard of a Jewish person complain about being given a paid day off on Christmas. You are either playing devils advocate with me or just disagreeing with me because you like to come down on the opposite side of debate with with me or whatever.

I'd like to hear from others on this issue of stores opening on Thanksgiving, especially other Americans.
