Editdroid belongs to Avid now. 

Almost all laserdisc players use the 780nm semiconductor laser, the same of any compact disc player; it could be difficult to play a laserdisc through scratches.

A way to play it flawlessy (maybe) is to use a laserdisc player with a red laser; any MUSE player should be able to do it, as they have a 670nm laser.

In the rare occasion a MUSE laserdisc player can't play a scratched disc, the only way to go is to use an "ancient" player, like the Pioneer PR 7820 or LD-600, as they use the He-Ne laser tube at 628nm.

Yes, it could be used to play it, probably it will play it better than a MUSE player. Video quality wise, though, should be lower than a MUSE player, IMHO...

Don't forget about the Pioneer CLD-1010, Andrea! It has a red laser as well.

Yeah, I forgot that... too many laserdisc player models to remember...

what is with the attitude? You know that these were quick and dirty captures, with a lot of problems and they are not very good quality. There isn't much point in providing a download link when the quality wouldn't be very different from a youtube download anyway. Once the proper captures are done then a full quality download link will be provided for everyone. Calling someone a fool just because you seem to have a problem with them is a bit childish isn't it? But i can't see any pissy comments from the admins on the page at all. In fact this is the only reply that has been given to someone who asked for a download link on the thread about the full footage being added to youtube:

"You can down the 1080p flv from YouTube directly. I have checked it against my original source and there is no real difference. It's not like the original is HD anyway. I've done my part now"

Actually i have known these guys for quite a while. But i will look into what happened. All i saw was that comment so i couldn't understand why you thought it was being pissy. We've had a few people over there recently starting all sorts of crap about the watermarks on the videos, constant threats to get disney/ lucasfilm to shut us down etc unless we release the whole footage NOW and in the best quality, so tempers seem to be getting a little frayed . There has also been one guy who has been causing a lot of crap, and it looks like he is getting his friends involved after we banned him and constantly arguing about what we are doing, so it may be a case of thinking you were connected in some way to him.  So Sorry if i jumped to conclusions. I'll get this sorted

I just have to say that being pestered constantly for downloads, other formats etc. etc. when you have spent a ton of your own time and money to make something available *for free* to people can get more than frustrating.

No one has to release anything, in fact they take a risk doing so. I appreciate it when anyone releases anything at all.

While I'm glad to hear that Lucasfilm, Disney or whoever hasn't interfered as yet, it may not be wise to post something like this on a very public place like facebook, where every idiot imaginable can whine and complain, pester the owner, try to cause trouble, etc.

Plus just the general level of attention it draws. Remember, things on this board are kept low profile for a reason, and with something of this rareness and importance (scenes, alternate takes and angles, etc., that might not exist anywhere else outside of Lucasfilm's archives), it's not a good idea to take chances. Just get it into the hands of those who can be trusted, in both the first pass rough and later high quality capture forms, and the rest will take care of itself...

It's exactly these kind of internet shenanigans that make some contributors to projects around here continue to remain anonymous.

I figured. I was just referencing the whole "shrinking universe" thing (Leia as Luke's sister, etc.) that some members frequently complain about around here. :-)

And I think that guy knows ecatly what he's doing. It's amazing footage, and  should be viewed by as many people as possible. I don't understand, why you guys are so paranoid.

What trouble could he possibly get into? What, they would like, arrest him? Sue him? Over what? He just uploaded content from one laserdisc to the internet. It's not that different from uploading one movie somewhere. In the worst case scenario, he could be fined. If they had his identity.

No one will take any legal action against him, because it would be dumb. Bad PR. He has publicity, and post like "sorry had to delete everything, Disney is after me" would generate shitstorm.

You make some good points. I'll just chime-in to say that we're so paranoid because some of us have actually received C&D letters from LFL in the past.
