Its like the media when they talk about the Yankees. Anyone here recall the buzz that was started when my Cleveland Indians gave the Yankees a whipping they will never forget?? I didn't stop hear abut it for at least a week, maybe a week and a half.
If the Indians had done the same to...I don't know, the Kansas City Royals or the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, I can assure you we would have heard much less about it. It certainly wouldn't have had a 2-page spread/analysis in The Sporting News.

1. Recent enough to still be news. Last season isn't that long ago when talking about sports that take so much time off.

2. He most certainly was. His whole point was based on the color of his skin. The worst part is guy didn't know what he was talking about. McNabb has been a major reason the team did well in the last few years. The defense can shut the other team down, but the offense still needs to score. The Eagles haven't had a decent running game or receiver group since he got there, yet they keep winning. Rush the shock jock has also made racist comments on his radio show before.

Making a statement based on the color of one's skin does not immediately constitute racism.

Limbaugh's statement was that he felt the national media was showing favoritism towards McNabb (because of his race), that he was overrated.

What exactly about his statement was "racist"?
- The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback can do well...- Rush is saying that the media is overhyping a QB (any QB) because there are not many black QBs in the NFL. That doesn't sound racist towards blacks. This could be viewed as a perosnal opinion of the media, not of McNabb.

- There's a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team.- This sounds like it could be a simple statement of fact that could be applied to ANY QB.

Looking at the numbers in that Slate article, I'd say that it was a reasonable assessment to say that the defense was the strength of that team.
But, it has been McNabb that is able to garner the majority of the attention, right?

I think it has already been proven that Mcnabb is good QB. I've been watching this team all of my life I can tell you that Mcnabb is big reason for the teams success. And knowing the philly press as I do I can tell you that they don't overhype QBs black or otherwise. They are very hard on players. If a QB isn't a good QB, they let him have it. They do not talk as if a player is better than he really is. And Starkiller, I didn't call Rush a racist, I called him a jerk and a moron I stick by that. I would like to see proof that the media has overhyped him or any other black QB. Also I would like proof that the media is very desirous that a black QB do well and that they are desirous enough that they would misrepresent the facts in order to make Mcnabb seem like a better QB than he really is. I think Rush is jerk and moron for more than just his comments on Mcnabb, but getting into though reasons would be pointless because I doubt we'd see eye to eye on them and just end up arguing political points back and forth. This is the last politcal or racial comment I will make on this thread.

While I don't consider Rush's statements necessarily racist, I do think they were incorrect. I've watched every Eagles game since McNabb was drafted. He carried that team, as he WAS the offense (Thrash, Pinktston, Freddie Mitchell and all the running backs have been marginal at best, and he was able to win with them). Not to mention Andy Reid's ultra-conservative offensive scheme doesn't compliment McNabb's playmaking style at all, and he was able to succeed in spite of it. Sure they had good defenses too, but defense alone doesn't get you to 3 NFC championship games in a row. Culpepper would seem to have been a better target, but that would have been off the mark too.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! The Lions are going to get killed on Sunday mark my words! I am sure that photo(of the Eagles fan) is old, and was taken from a time when the team did stink. I am sure if I wanted to, I could find photo's of Lions fans that our just as bad. As the Lions have had some very bad teams over the years
