Today I decided to convert some of my old audio cassettes (DJ performances & mix tapes) into MP3 files so I can play them in my car.

I got my old tape deck (Teac V-600) out of the cupboard where it has lived for the last few years and was gutted to find it no longer worked (powers up OK, but the motor doesn't turn). Now I have no way to play back these tapes.

Should I try and fix it? Not sure it's worth it.

Maybe get another deck off eBay, any recommendations?

Although what I really fancy is an old Walkman or portable player; this way I can just plug the player straight into the line-in jack in my car so no MP3 conversion required. Quick check on eBay and surprised to see how expensive some of the more decent Sony models (like the WM- 2 or WM-DD33) are selling for. Any other models I should look out for?
