About Han... everyone realizes that people change, right? That people grow up and mature and "settle down" and leave their wild pasts behind them? To keep Han the same character we met in Star Wars seems to discredit the characters arc. I don't wanna see a Han who is still an wild, free and reckless 30 years latter. I'm probably alone on that though.

I very much agree. that's why I said in my little story that Han is not a General anymore and he would not be that interested in working for the republic. I would not see him as a bored old man, but someone who left the past behind, is happy with his everyday life but is forced to get back because of Leia.

That said this sort of story arc could also work if Han is now an important member of the republic. He did not fly with the Falcon in years. But somehow IS bored with this safe life. And when he is in the obligation to fight again, he just jump on the occasion.
