If anything, I think Han, Luke and Leia should have lived more or less separate lives since the rebellion's complete victory. That does not mean they had no adventures together after JEDI, but at one point in their life, they took separate roads. The audience should feel the same as the characters when they meet again after so much time. (Can you even imagine Luke telling Han: "The last time we met... It's like it was a long time ago, in a galaxy far away!" Okay, a little too on the nose, haha) What I would hate is the story focusing on some of their kids first and get a "oh, shit, here comes the old folks!" scene, where Han, Luke and Leia would appear all together on screen, like that. The characters needs at least a little story arc together.
