Robocop - Director's Cut 1080p restoration (Released) — Page 3

After doing various comparisons, I don't feel this project is worth turning into a full-fledged bluray disc.  The MGM retail bluray shows signs that it was upscaled from a 720p master but the unreleased Sony bluray has the contrast boosted too much.  The Sony master looks as if they used a 1080p or 2k source but for the details that are retained, more are lost due to the blown out whites and blacks.

I'm rendering the video out to be released as a smaller 1080p video file which I will make available if anyone wants it.

Kaijuu, I've got word that you may work on the trailer re-edit. Any news on that?

Aren't the trailers already available in HD on the bluray?  I could have sworn they were.

Unfortunately not. Only one trailer was. Zeropc told me that you may work on it. That's why I've asked.

I was considering doing an HD remaster of the teaser trailer.  I have all the elements necessary to do it but I'm not sure which version of the movie I would use as the source footage and things are really busy right now, so I won't be working on it anytime soon.  Especially since I scrapped the plans for the custom bluray.

I know I'm super late with this, but looking at that Caps-A-Holic link, I'm glad I missed out on that 25th Anniversary director's cut...though the Criterion still looks much better than the box set version that I have.

It's funny that, like Total Recall, the only thing that the remake has me excited about is a new release of the original movie =| I like the new TR BD a lot.

I think an uncompressed soundtrack rip is still worth pursuing here.

Well, that would certainly put to bed the wanting of a better transfer.

I hope the remaster is every bit as good as what was achieved with the Ghostbusters 4K remaster. If it is, it will be a dream come true.

I want a nice 4k transfer and an absolute bucket-load of extras.

Anyone see those recent news reports saying that pg-13 movies today are more violent that R-rated movies of the 80's? And that if 80's r-rated movies were released today they'd be pg-13? Those were good for a laugh.

Commenting to express interest and be noted of any updates 😄. I have both the unreleased sony and the director’s but not the Ultimate version, however a true Ultimate version with original audio and the best quality print would be magic.
