i read on a german forum that the french steelbook bd contains the fixed 5.1 audio and original mono (only in lossy dolby).

they also note that if your player is set to english (player language, not bd language), you only get the cut version of the movie. set it to french and you get the uncut version.

but maybe that's what dj used for this project anyway :)

Today I burned & watched the Extended Edition.  My Samsung BDP3600 Blu-ray player did not like the disc and spit it out but my media center handled it flawlessly.  The ONLY issue I noticed was @ he 12m 50sec mark.  There are squiggly lines in the back ground sky.  It was only in that scene I noticed it in but the rest was fine.

I want to say that I had an enjoyable time watching it.  Conan has always been a favorite of mine.  The story alone is well worth sharing with your kids if you have them.  Nicely done Team Blu.  Video and audio presentation were nicely matched with the movies release time frame and accented the story just as well.  When my BD50's arrive I will burn the other one and come back with feedback.

Thank you all for the nice work on this.

Cheers!!!!

That is on the source as well on all retail releases, there was nothing we could do here, you are talking about behind Thulsa Doom on the upper right of the screen? and I would not waste a BD50 on the EE version, it is only BD25.

The BD50 will be for the Theatrical release.  I got it downloaded, just waiting for discs to arrive.  You're correct, it was the Thulsa Doom scene.  Too bad they couldn't have corrected it before release.  It's fine.  It didn't distract me from enjoying the extended edition.

Good for you it does not distract, I wish I could say the same thing, my eyes focus in on it all the darn time, I really wish we could have fixed it.

I just saw the wavy lines you were referring to in the background.  They look like they could be removed manually but they also look like something that was part of the original film.  Possibly they used a back projection screen behind the actors for the background instead of a location shoot and it was a little bit wrinkled or warped.

I'm certainly not complaining about it.  It was just something I noticed and was giving feedback on.  Since it's inherent to the source I know it wasn't something that was missed and I'm good.

I just watched both cuts, and everything was fantastic! Loved having the restored score. I watched these on the PC as I don't have a Blu burner, but Christmas is coming...

Thanks to Team Blu for their efforts with this!

Someone could send me an invitation to MySpleen?

Thank you very much!

Hi,

Are there chapters in this release? VLC doesn't show any when I view on my Mac. If there are, I'd be grateful if somebody would post the times and titles.

Thanks for another great release!

Can someone explain the difference between the two Team Blu versions and Blu-ray available in shops? I've never seen Conan, don't laugh at me :C.

@Feallan: The ones in the shops seem to be sourced directly from the original negative without any color timing done. All old releases has been color timed like in the theatres which is how most people are used to see them, so we brought back the original look to them.

Feallan, if you're seeing the film for the first time you owe it to yourself to experience Team Blu's versions... either one since both are great.  Perfect color, perfect sound and great extras.  I doubt you'll ever see Conan presented in finer fashion.

Thanks. Do you think theatrical or extended is better (at least for the first time watching)?

Oh, and do you plan smaller MKV release? Like, 6 or 7 GB? 50 is a huge amount of time with my speeds. :(

You can't really go wrong either way.  I will say that the 5.1 mix on the Extended Edition is hands down the best mix I've ever heard for the film.  I like the extra scenes too.  I grew up on the theatrical, but damn if that EE hasn't become my new favorite.  I doubt you're going to see a smaller file released.

great project

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

Thank you very much for these releases,

Does Theatrical Edition have the sound fixes you did for EE? Like the missing choral parts etc.?

The theatrical edition presents the original mono track (no restoration needed) along with several re-mixes to present the music in stereo, along with isolated score options. The only issue is that the Tower of Set sequence minimizes the choir heard in the film because there was no stereo version of that track (the choir was an overdub over an existing recording).

Who prefers the theatrical cut over the EE? And if so, why?

I like them both. I grew up with the Theatrical so the extended really threw me the first time I view it. However it's grown on me and now I find them to be equally compelling.
