Does any one know what the quality is like on the EditDroid isolated score?, is it usable for transitions and smoothing edits out? And if so, would anyone that has the editdroid ROTJ be willing to rip it for me? I don't really have anything worthwhile to offer in return, maybe an xvid of the edit before it's officially released as a DVD5.

I don't know of this Editdroid soundtrack, but I have an HD GOUT copy that I got from tehparadox that has 5.1. would that help?

I have a copy of the Editdroid. Would an ac3 file be acceptable? PM me if you're interested. Although I've never uploaded anything before...so you'll need to help me there.

If anybody was interested, I dunno if this edit was really followed much or anything.  But if you guys were interested I've decided to take this up again.  I know it's been a while.  But I feel I could make a good edit of this film.  All the existing edits of this film out are... good.  I mean I like them all, they all have good ideas.  But there's just certain "things" about them all that bother me.  Spence's final cut is very good, but certain audio cuts bothered me.  Danedits is also good, but I dislike the new subtitles in jabba's palace and the replaced music at the end.  I intend for this edit to be very conservative, yet cutting all the "slack".  Think "Phantom edit" rotj.  Same film, no radical changes.  Just taking what is given and making it flow like ESB.  For those who LIKE Jedi, just not as much as the first two.

Also thanks Aluminum Falcon, I will be using that, and if I ever get this finished you shall receive an XVID of the first draft.

As a person who likes fan edits, it's always good to hear of a new Return of the Jedi one. I frankly don't understand why people stay away from editing it even though it has flaws just like the Prequels. In any case, I can't wait to see your version of it.

Would anybody be interested in me taking this up again? I feel like it had a unique premise to the other rotj edits starting to surface.  Well maybe not a unique premise, but unique execution perhaps.  Some of my own favorite cuts I've made to it I haven't seen made in other edits of this film.  (Not saying they weren't good edits!) I just feel like I might have had something here, and maybe a new 1080P version made now with a couple more years experience on my part might be appreciated?  Also I still have that isolated score track and thank you it is SO helpful!

Yes, a 1080p edit of ROTJ would be great.  I'd like to see some of the deleted scenes added to it like Daneditor's Radical edit.  I would like it to still be conservative though like you were saying.  Another thing I really liked about Daneditor's Radical version is that he moved the Yoda scene close to the beginning which worked out really well.  (Spence did that too, I think)

It would also be good if you could despecialize the whole thing and have it color corrected.

Yoda will stay put.  sorry.  But I may try to add in Luke building his lightsaber if I can find a good place for it.  I doubt I will color correct it, maybe subtle, but the HD versions have better colors than the GOUT in my opinion so I'm not sure what I would be trying to accomplish.

As far as despecializing goes, Hayden Christensen will be removed.  As for the sarlaac pit, I don't see the point.  It's supposed to be a creature anyway (In it's belly... digested... existing tentacles anyway?) so I don't see the need to replace what looks like a monster with a vagina but in lower image quality...

Yes, that would be great, that's by far the best deleted scene.  As far as despecializing goes I hope you won't include the 'Jedi Rocks' sequence that's my least favorite S.E. change of the OT.

There will be no musical numbers.  Neither lapti nek or jedi rocks have a place in this edit.

Ahh thanks! It's good to be back again.  I'm feeling better, and I'm not as bitchy as I was the last time I came around these forums! 

(once again sorry about that guys.  None of it really happened in this thread that I can remember, but there were others, and if you happen to read this and your one of the people I was irritable with for no good reason last time I was here, I do apologize!)

Thank you thank you! Btw, all lightsaber cores will be corrected to straight white, and the bleeding into the inner white core from the color of the blade will be totally fixed in every shot.  I'm aware that the blu ray set fixed the one everybody talks about (which my first draft had already fixed anyway... the one in front of the emperor's face) but now all others will be corrected as well.  It will be the same blades, but the white levels have been adjusted.

On a side note, I made a hybrid of SE/Original Empire Strikes Back which  fixes all lightsaber blades as well in 1080P.  I've seen alot of despecialized esb's (well... a couple) and while they were great works I haven't seen anybody fix how none of the lightsabers have truly white cores in the new transfer! NO MORE. :) If anybody is interested in my version I could upload it, I made it mostly for my own enjoyment.

Also I added dynamic brightness in the shot of luke underneath the imperial walker throwing a bomb in so it's darker and when he pulls out his lightsaber upped the contrast so that the core is white but everything else gets overshadowed (I used some shots from attack of the clones where anakin has his blade out in a dark room against dooku as a reference for how lightsabers make surrounding areas look in the dark)

The ever bothersome lightsaber colors... what can one say? Good luck, and sounds good.

The weaknesses of ROTJ have bugged me for years. Right now I'm writing a reimagining of the story as fanfiction, but would like to have a version of the current film more in line with my own preferences. 

You said in the original post you were going to focus on the warrior aspect of the Ewoks. Any latest ideas or developments for that?

Thanks for the support.  And don't expect anything radical.  By all this I merely mean I'll be cutting shots of them acting like children and looking like teddy bears and keeping the shots of them thrusting and throwing spears, throwing rocks, using slingshots (but NOT wicket hitting himself in the face... even if it is kinda funny ;)), and such.  Mostly just cutting out stuff.

Somewhere in time there is an alternate cut of the Wicket splapstick scene where he deliberately hits himself in the face, knocks out some teeth and snarls at a stormie as he visibly grows new teeth (you could see them popped down and up like a vampire).

It would turn the comedy teddy bears into short Glaswegians.

Maybe they could all be drunk.

Maybe they should all be smoking cigars while they are fighting
