I recently backed that Wizarm DVR/PVR/mediacenter project on indiegogo, here: http://igg.me/at/wizarm/
This box works standalone (no need of computer) and it can record&playback in 1080p60 (apparently up to 1440p, QuadHD) from any HDMI sources, they have a video showing it recording from a PS3.
It's a easy to use as your smartphone camera software ;)
