At the European Brand Licensing Show today a brochure was supposedly given out that contains a few interesting titbits. Having Ep7 set for a summer release (and not the reported November release), but it's the Darth Vader TV specials that have grabbed everyones attention. Now, will these be live action or just more lego ones, or even a bit of both?

Bionic masked Vader hunting down Jedi was one of the unfulfilled promises of the the PT.

I really do hope it's live action and the suit isn't the crap one from ROTS.

Gaddamnitarghh! Don't get me started on that ROTS suit. "This is gonna be the first symetrical Vader! Because we spotted a flaw in the old mask". Well done fools it doesn't look like Vader now. Rant over.

There has to be a live action Star Wars show somewhere. It's long been discussed and cheaper FX technology coupled with increased TV budgets have progressed to the point where it's possible.

Not sure if Vader is the way to go. I think there's mileage in the 'Droids' format of different characters each season.

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

If it's live action with a small lego Vader running around, I'll definitely want to scream you-know-what! ;)

As long as they're sure to be thorough and don't leave ANYTHING to our imaginations, I'm in.

The high ratings of the pilot for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (on abc, of course) several weeks back has reignited Disney's interest in developing a live-action Star Wars series. I'm not sure if this got brought up or not. It might be worth bumping the relevent thread.

Word on the street is that the series would not necessarily be the between-the-PT-and-OT idea McCallum was helping Lucas develop. If that's the case, I wonder what will happen with those fifty episodes worth of scripts they apparently had written and ready to go....

I too hope for a live-action series.  I can imagine, if enough material is produced, it could be used as part of an alternative fanedited PT.  I've often thought of what could serve better, and part of my thoughts included a TCW edit for an Episode II.  If it were even changed to Episode I Episode III could be used for Episode II, and then these TV specials could become a new Episode III.  I see many great possibilities, if handled properly.

Ah, so the Darth Vader specials would be all the stuff we wanted to see in Ep3? I hadn't considered that. Something about the word "specials" just made me scratch my head and I never would've considered they might've actually meant "made-for-tv movies." I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I want to see how a lumbering, cyborg Vader deals with wall-bouncing hyperactive Jedi. He's going to have to cheat.

Maybe they aren't even live-action, or short stories, or any other type of fiction.  It's possible the shows could just be documentaries on the evolution of the character or the cultural impact.

Didn't think of that.

I'd be opposed to such a documentary, except we have a sequel trilogy on the horizon. Before the announcement last November, I would see this as revisionist propaganda to further the films being the Tragedy of Darth Vader.
