I remember in an interview, James Earl Jones said his first response when he came to that pivotal line was "He's lying!"

The old lore from the late seventies, as you said elsewhere when we talked about "Splinter of the Mind's Eye", is lost these days. It's been reinterpreted as Obi-Wan being a poetic liar. I want to know what it'd be like to continue ESB (since it'd be a total shame to dismiss that masterpiece), painting Vader as the liar instead. We preserve the old lore, along with ESB, where the two have been at odds before.
