Project files have been updated to version 6.1 (original post has been updated as well). Please PM me for the temporary download links until the files are available in a more permanent location.

Rough summary of changes:

- Added Cantonese (scaled/verified), and promoted Mandarin/traditional from unverified to scaled/verified--big thanks to Laserman and none for this!

- Minor quality improvements to other scaled subtitles (Japanese and Thai).  Honestly probably not that different from 6.0.

That's it!  No changes from 6.0 for any other languages, or any text-derived subtitles at all.

If anyone is planning any exciting global travel, there were strong indications in another thread that there were GOUT releases in Greece, Turkey, and Russia.  I also speculate that there may also have been releases in South Korea and Israel, perhaps elsewhere.  Any of these would be in a good position to help us out with a number of our not-so-well-supported languages.

Thanks--could you nuke the 5.1 torrent?  That version really does have some problems I'd rather not have floating out there.

Also, apparently version 6.1 got in under the wire to be included in Despecialized 2.5, so hurray for that! My metal body was fast enough, after all!

Yeah, my uploads weren't exactly speedy either, if you were in the same country I could have walked them there faster :)

I'm still working on ESB and ROTJ Polish subs - I'd say I'm halfway through. :) I can PM you with links to the rest if you want.

Thanks, CatBus has already provided me with the links, looking forward to you completing the polish subs.

Okay, since the Polish updates are still not trilogy-complete, but we now have verified subtitles for ESB, I'm doing something a little different.  Rather than incrementing the whole project version for this, I'm just making a "Polish Language Pack" available as a separate download.  Then when we get updates for the whole trilogy (and hopefully Indonesian subtitles as well), THEN I'll increment the project version.

We'll see.  This is a bit of an experiment.  So if you want the best Polish subs, you'll need to get Project Threepio v6.1 and THEN get the Polish Language Pack for ESB (PM me for links).  I hope this doesn't inconvenience anyone too much.

EDIT: Oh yeah--and thanks to Feallan for his continued help with this.

The Polish pack now includes minor updates to the Star Wars subtitles, so if you want Polish subs, this is what you want to use for now.

The problem is/was that I don't have a very well-defined set of style guidelines for subtitle submissions, and some of them (maximum line length and maximum number of lines) are really important for good-looking graphical subtitles.  I was able to correct the ones I had without knowing Polish (and Jedi doesn't have many long lines so I'm not concerned about it), but when I do push out the next version of the project, it will have a set of basic instructions for making subtitles, with style guidelines and better subtitle templates (instead of having to use the English full subs as templates, which can lead to a few other problems).

Hi folks,

I was hoping that I could get these subtitles, but I'm having some trouble finding them. MySpleen doesn't appear to be accepting new users. And the only torrent I could find doesn't seem to have any seeders.

I was hoping maybe someone here could help me out. I'm interested in the Mandarin translations (simplified and traditional), as well as the English version.

My friend has never seen the movies in any form, but her English skills are still a work in progress. So I thought mandarin subtitles might make it easier for her.

Anyway, thanks for any help.

Anyone have Japanese subs for The Phantom Menace or know where to find some? TPM is the only one I haven't been able to find them for...

Thanks!

Does anyone have any recommendations for file hosting services?

My requirements:

1) Web-based upload and download, no client required.

2) Anonymous downloads permitted.

3) Not too obnoxious with the ad and attempts to get you to download software (iLivid, etc).

4) Decent file sizes permitted for non-paid accounts.

I know I'm probably a few years too late on this bandwagon, but Rapidshare just got too obnoxious to use anymore.

I would recommend Google Drive, it seems to fit all your requirements.

FWIW, I got some Latin American Spanish subtitles, but I'm suspicious of them and would like someone to double-check them if possible.

Star Wars and Empire both seem good quality, and mostly match the Castilian subtitles except for the odd word or phrase here and there, as I'd expect.  The problem is that they had a few Special Edition lines in them, and for those, I just copied over the Castilian text.  Jedi is nothing at all like the Castilian text, has Special Edition lines I pasted over, and was missing all of the subtitled lines, which I also pasted over from the Castilian.  I suspect it's not as well-done as the other two.

Anyway, if you're interested in checking these out and offering corrections, let me know.  Incidentally, Latin American Spanish has the weirdest language code so far: es-419.  The UN apparently has numerical designations for super-national regions, and 419 is the one for Latin America and the Caribbean.  The source for these files is Argentine, but I'd like them to be as "neutral" as possible.

Heh, I usually use more specific terms like "es_MX" (most Latino Spanish dubs) or "es_VE" (Batman TAS) or "es_CL" (I've got some translated anime songs that were recorded in Chile), or very rarely "es_US"...

Haven't ever heard before of a generic abbreviation for Latino Spanish o.O;

"Right now the coffees are doing their final work." (Airi, Masked Rider Den-o episode 1)

I opted for es-419 over es-ar for kinda the same reasons I opted for zh-yue over zh-hk for Cantonese.  Languages don't stop at political borders (some moreso than others), and if there's a code that reflects that, I'll use it.

But yeah, it's odd, but apparently it's a real code.  And at least according to the Internet, it's possible to do "neutral" non-country-specific American Spanish, and that's what I want for these if possible.  They might not be there yet ;)

Project files have been updated to version 6.2 (original post has been updated as well). Please PM me for the temporary download links until the files are available in a more permanent location.

Rough summary of changes:

- Promoted Polish from unverified to verified for the entire trilogy--big thanks to Feallan for this!

- Added American Spanish (unverified), thanks to roback214.

- Minor changes to how SDH subtitles are formatted.  This is most noticeable when you see the subtitles for the "POWER - TRACTOR BEAM" sign, which are now all caps to more clearly signify to deaf viewers that this isn't something Obi-Wan's just muttering to himself.

- Added a section to the README and included better templates for how to change/add subtitles.

- Tried to make all processes and utilities in instructions work cross-platform (verified on Windows and Linux, Mac should work), but failed to get one big process (turning SRT files into BD-SUP files) working due to reliance on AviSynth.  Many of the processes rely on Wine for cross-platform compatibility, so they are not necessarily cross-architecture.

Special thanks again to Feallan for working with me on these subtitles before I had very good/clear instructions in place.  He suffered so that others don't have to.

I'm new to the site here, and just wanted to say thank you very much for your work on these subtitles, CatBus.  I'm curious about MySpleen as all I saw there was a login form, no way to sign up, but a PM later and I got the download link incredibly quick!  Awesome work and super-useful.

Long time lurker, first time poster etc.

These forums have rendered me speechless ever since I first came across them a couple of years ago and I don't really know where to begin thanking you people for all the dedication and hard work you've put into dozens of incredible projects... So I guess I'll start here since it was Project Threepio that finally managed to convince me to register. Thanks, CatBus :)
