Yeah, the Ewoks don't need to WIN, per se. And in the first few seconds of the battle - where they play mainly a diversion role - I'd say they're fairly well-handled.

But for the rest of the time, I think instead of editing the super-effective and somewhat unbelievable traps out of the film, competent Ewok warriors can be edited in. They don't need to defeat the stormtroopers, but maybe we can at least see them as fairly capable. And not invincible. Only one or two Ewoks die on-screen, which makes them feel otherwise invincible, which is the main problem, I guess.
