'Rush' 2013 (At cinemas now)
It was like... freeeowwn, bruuum, raooorr, kechaaang, vrmm, vrmm, neeeown, screeeeech!!!!
But seriously, it's 'Rush' by name 'Rush' by nature. The sound design and exhilerating direction combine to make a film that captures speed and it's danger like nothing I've seen before.
Chris Hemsworth as Hunt and Daniel Brühl as Lauda are so perfectly cast. At the end it cuts briefly to actual footage of them and for a second I didn't even notice. 'Downfall's Alexandra Maria Lara as Lauda's wife is outstanding too. The film tells the stories of both men simultaneously yet seperately in a way that felt fresh, I could never decide who I was rooting for more!
The film also looks like it was shot in the 70s, after his work on 'Dredd', Anthony Dod Mantle is fast becoming my favourite Cinematographer.
