I sent a PM to EyeShotFirst regarding the box's size, he didn't reply yet. According to my calculations, it should be 300x231 mm. Will try this size at a print shop tomorrow.

My wife is a graphic designer in a print shop. What paper are you using?

I have no idea. I guess I'll use something close to cardboard. I went to the only print shop I know in Paris yesterday, they even had no clue how to resize the image.

Please bear with me if I tend to get too excited about anything or say too much, I have issues.

I'm trying to figure out which two characters to put on the leather portions of the back.

I could reuse Luke, Han or Leia; but there's a bunch of other people I'm not sure about which to use: Chewie, Yoda, Sebastian Shaw's Anakin, Lando...

Then, of course, there's Wedge, Ackbar, Wicket and Nien Nunb. :)

I could also put Vader or Palpatine, but the other covers have heroes on them.

What do you all think I should put?

I say stick to the main players.  Put Yoda and Vader on it.

BTW, your covers look amazing.  I totally want to use these.

I'll have to redo the box then. I'll build a prototype and redo the original files. I must have forgotten a detail or misplaced a decimal LOL.

I'll also try to make an easier way to print it.

Thanks for the quick reply. The thing is that it is very tiny in any image viewer (I tried on OS X 10.8 and Windows 7), but huge when you print it (maybe 2 A3s).
Thanks again for making it, I tried to calculate the dimensions by myself, but the printing process was not good.

I fixed a lot of the problems. In the end, you still need to print a big image, but that's a given.

I used VIVA Elite case dimensions as my basis, and did mm and inch measurements for international people.

I'm going to upload the box a template together. I'm going to do some quick double checking, but to anybody who has the previous box file, deleted and forget it, because it was messed up.

Ok, sorry for the wait, I put both the template and the actual box in PSD form so you can mess with the layers and change things you want. The measurements should be correct, I spent a while trying to get it just right. In the end, either my measurments or the viva people are wrong if anything isn't just right. The problem with blu ray cases is the difference from one to the other. I used my Prometheus case as a guide as well as online sources. So if you make this case, try to go with viva elites.

I know why the case was wrong before, I'm not gonna say what, because it was a derp moment.

Thanks, downloading now. But the download is HUGE! I'm at 126 Mo and it's still downloading.

Thanks for the effort, EyeShotFirst. I just tried downloading the file, but it seems that it's down already... :(

Edit: It's working now, stupid me. Thanks again!

For everyone, who doesn't know how to handle psd files:

I resized EyeShotFirst's image to the dimensions that are given in his template file and edited it slightly in photoshop. It is not possible to maintain the original aspect ratio though, since the dimensions wouldn't be correct then. All that is needed now, is printing it out in it's original size (from image dpi). I hope it's correct this way, I had no chance to test it yet.

I made two versions (both high quality jpgs): One with the AVCHD logo and one with the Blu-ray logo.

I mainly made those for myself, but thought, what's the harm in sharing them here. ;) All credit goes to EyeShotFirst. Can't thank you enough!

[snip]

I really want these.

Although, I would really like to have an Episode III cover that doesn't have Vader on it, as I plan to use the prequel covers for Q2's fanedit, which doesn't have Vader's suit nor name mentioned in it.

First, did you get these?  I would love to have them as well.

Second, has anyone made covers for 6 disc cases?  The reason I'm asking for this is because in spite of my hatred for the changes and what not, I'm still a completionist at heart and wanted to make one large case for each film which contains all the major releases, and stuff.  2 Examples would be:

Episode I:

Disc 1: 1999 Theatrical Edition

Disc 2: 2001 DVD Edition

Disc 3: 2011 Blu-ray Edition

Disc 4: 2012 3D Edition

Star Wars:

Disc 1: 1977 Theatrical Edition

Disc 2: 1981 Theatrical Re-Release Edition

Disc 3: 1997 Special Edition

Disc 4: 2004 DVD Edition

Disc 5: 2011 Blu-ray Edition

whipped these up, I guess they are still unfinished, but yeah.

Is there any chance you (Gogogadget) or anyone else are still working on these covers you posted a sample of a while back? I have also been just in love with the Hildebrandt art particularly since I was a kid, and am eager to get a high res scan of the art for a case insert. Not that the Struzan art isn't equally fantastic, this one just touches off something in me, and I don't see many folks working on covers with it.

I wonder if there is a way to create an online archive of all the covers available.  I have filled requests in the past but then new people arrive and start requesting artwork that hasn't been available for quite awhile and there aren't many of us who have this stuff archived.

We should try and find a way to get something set up .... otherwise it may be prudent for a torrent to go up that contains a lot of this stuff so folks won't need to wait in this thread forever for someone to come in and upload single requests.

Hi all, while waiting impatiently for the blu-ray of Harmys most excellent DE, I got to work on some box artwork for the discs. I like the ones I've seen so far but I fancied giving it a go using the classic theatrical posters and I tried to keep it minimal (saving audio/despec/video information for an inlay) - I don't know if anyone on here would like them but thought I would upload them in case.

I purposely left off most mentions of despecialized as to me these are the definitive editions of the movies in HD, nothing else comes close so this, for me, is just Star Wars, and nothing more. Does that make sense?

That's the link to full res versions I made. Enjoy!

How do people make images of them 'in a bd box'? Looks much cooler!

Here are some Blu-Ray sleeves that I put together using some art that I found in this forums (The Kenner-inspired art) and some art that I found elsewhere.
I hope you dig them!

^Very nice, and very original on the covers. Only gripe I have, and it's only minor. On my monitor, I see a lot of artifacts and outlines around the Rebel and Imperial symbols on each cover. Like the blacks don't match up. I would recommend selecting the bottom of the front and raising the black levels a bit. That should even it, and hide the edges and artifacts.

Other than that, I like them as well as some of the best covers I've seen on here.

Thanks for the input! I'm actually colour blind (which is why design work is only a minor hobby of mine) so I'm glad that I posted these here so I can correct that before printing.
One of my goals with these covers was to include as little info as possible about which transfer they were or which features were included on the disc because I found that many of the other covers would either include the specs of a previous version of an edit or else they would list special features that not everybody would take the time to include on their disc.
I will see what I can do about those rebel/imperial symbols and post the updated versions.
Cheers!
