You_Too and I will figure out what direction to go in when the time comes, we are still a little ways off before finishing up both Terminators.

Trailers are never fully timed

I know, but it's just that usually they at least point in the right direction.

Thanks for the update, DJ. While my main concern is seeing the first film in BD quality with the original mono sound, I'm sure I'll wanna check them both out before all is said and done. :)

It’s really sad when the “creative minds” behind something we hold dear are also guilty of its destruction.

Can I have the link to the mono audio?  Also if you're a member of Tehparadox, kingkong650 is also doing a regrading project on the latest remastering of The Terminator: tehparadox.com

Thanks!

Thanks for the link!! That project looks very titillating.

If I may note, watch the T2 making of for the opening scenes in the biker's bar.

Those scenes in 1991 were color timed blue as they appear in this making of (it was edited prior to the film release), however, since laserdisc and DVD and Blu-ray, the scene is now warm orange brown.

I feel any "restoration" project should get those scenes back to the theatrical colors they had originally.

I checked it out and in that project, there's only been a curve added to balance the colors, but the teal (which is then turned into strong blue) isn't toned down and balanced like in our version.

Not saying this to compete with anyone, just saying it so you guys know that our version will still be worth getting.

Hey Matt we have a few in front of both the Terminators and True Lies but I can tell you this for sure, it will definitely not be before the first of the year unfortunately.

That means nothing, edited before release means more than likely the wrong timing.

I agree there are issues with colour and personally sound

I don't remember telling people not to check out this release when it finally comes out, only saying that I was looking forward to checking it out, which I am. Hopefully you can appreciate the ever so slight difference.

Are you planning to answer my question asking why your Conan the Barbarian release is not on tehparadox or usenet from the other thread? I'm sure it would be very popular there and a lot more people outside of this forum would find out about it. Keeping it only on myspleen with only people on OT.com knowing about it's existence seems counterproductive to me. I asked the question in good faith. I have no quarrel with you or You_Too nor do I want one. All I asked for in the fellowship thread was a little bit of common courtesy and respect shown between releasers, is that too much to ask? I hope not.

I would very much like to check your conan the barbarian release out (conan the barbarian is one of my favourite films) and it would be a lot easier for me and many others to do so if it was on tehparadox or usenet. I assume you want as many people as possible to be able to see your releases right so why not put it there as well? PM me if for some reason you don't want to post the answer to my question directly in the forum.

Great interruption zeropc so no need to be sorry!

But whenever I search on usenet I don't see it, I only see official bd25/bd50 versions of conan the barbarian. What do I need to search for? If you don't want to say here send me a PM please. I've been wanting to check out this release for a while. I love conan the barbarian, especially the music.

I do not know if any of you guys (DJ and co.) have anything to do with this, but I recently checked it out and it looks pretty damn good (as far as more natural color timing)... here it is:

kk650's Regraded The Terminator 1080p

Size: 7.5 GB
Video: 1920x1080 H264 23.976
Audio Track: English DTS Audio 5.1

Original versus Modified

Original versus Modified

Original versus Modified

The Terminator [1984] 2.1 DTSHD mono mix [audio only]

This is the very much sought after dtshd mono + lfe mix for the remastered version of The Terminator on Blu-ray.  THIS IS THE AUDIO TRACK ONLY. It's synced to the current RM Blu-ray meaning all you have to do is mux it.

One thing I think would be nice is if you retained the original animated menu from the original TERMINATOR blu, (though some of the loud metal clunking noises moving back and forth between the options can be annoying) but included all of the extras from the dvd (and maybe any more that can be found on the internet, such as early production sketches from Cameron).  The new menu is pretty generic.

OK, noted. No rush. One at a time, right? I have my own mono synced version, but of course no color correction.

Hi Mike, I saw T2 10 times theatrical year of release. The bar scene was color timed blue in all the theaters I saw it in, just like it's blue on the making of. I believe it might be a worthy addition to any project, to restore that blu tint for that scene. You have the making of as reference so it shouldn't be hard.

Author

I saw it in CDS 70mm and do not remember that, not saying it was wrong but the making of is not the the best reference

My memory of the theatrical prints is a lot of blue. Lots and lots of blue. But memories can be wrong.

In the age of Blu-Ray, I still don't understand why anyone would do a DVD-9 HD version in 2013. BD-25s aren't that expensive. Now, of course, BD-50s are still through the roof unless you import from Japan, but that's another story.

Not everyone has the $60+ to drop on a burner.

It gets even more expensive when you need a SATA3->USB3 external enclosure because you only have a laptop, etc.
