Nice thing though is that they have a Dolby 5.1 Spanish and a Dolby 5.1 English, which wasn't the case with the previous Bluray set.  My bets are on these being the same exact mixes minus the language meaning the true vocal removal method may very well be possible.

Please to be elaborating.

It's some weird theory TMBTM, and I have  been trying to figure out in another thread, where if everything is exactly the same except the voices can you use that, to perfectly separate the voices from Music/SFX.  Neither of us, have figured it out how to get it to work properly, but for certain identical mixes for the score/SFX is necessary.  So far TMBTM did get the vocals to be twice as loud as before, so at the moment the use of noise removal processing is made much more possible.

Well, I did not actualy made the "vocal twice as loud as before". This is just something that could be done, in theory, IF the mixes are exactly the same.

I still did not find a way to remove languages, or even to get the music free of vocals, even if we have two exact same mixes (minus different languages). But of course it would make it easier to do experiences and maybe find a way.

EDIT: by the way if someone knows a DVD of a movie where two mixes are exactly 100%  the same frequencies, only with different languages I'd be interested to know about it.

So it is 2011 version degraded to DVD format. I don't get the benefit of that. If it was 2004 version upgraded to 1080p I might have even considered buying it.

Not everyone has a blu ray player.

When making that statement, I was under the assumption that there isn't a sane person who would prefer a few new stupid changes to 2004 version (which is already on DVD).

Well, therein lies the rub - none of those people are sane.

The 2004 dvd's are out of print, right?  So this is I guess the only way you can buy a dvd if you need one.

So...no more 'creepy puppet Yoda' on this latest 'Episode I' DVD release then?

Sorry for going ever-so-slightly off-topic but here in the UK in September, we did not get the Blu Ray/DVD combo pack but instead we got yet another DVD trilogy release.

The question is, are these the 2004 OT, 1999/2002/2005 PT versions re-packaged yet again or the 2011 Blu Ray versions but on DVD??

If they went to all the trouble of making DVD masters for the current versions, a PAL release isn't much of a stretch.

They seem to be the 2011 Blu-ray versions russs15, as the PAL dvd of 'Episode I' now features the 'digital' Yoda for instance.  Strangely, these latest dvd releases don't even bother to flag up the fact that they are the 'up-to-date' versions on the UK packaging in any way.

That's Disney/LFL's attempt to muddy the issue, I suppose.

As much as I will hate myself for it someday, it looks like I will have to be getting this release, although at 15 quid, it is not that much money to throw away!

The DVD and Blu Ray versions are bad enough as they are but played at PAL speeds, they are even worse!!!

I will also probably end up with the US Combo packs too...

I really wished that Lucas went full "Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker" with these sets and put Anakin on the cover of the prequel sets.

Laugh? Cry? Or just kill ourselves now?

I would be curious if they put any effort into the menus on these. Other studios are doing them as cheap and plain as possible these days.
