Maybe with the wings not playing, some kind of gravitational moon pull, the reverse will happen... The lions will win a Super Bowl and the Wings wont make the playoffs lol

I thought baseball was America's sport.

Yeah

Baseball is our "official pastime", but that's bs. Football is by far the most popular sport...blows all other sports away with attendence, viewership, so forth. Trust me, football is America's sport

RIGHT

And Lacrosse is Canada's official sport along with hockey. Does that mean it really is Canada's sport?
If you only had one, it would be hockey not lacrosse

ie Football not Baseball

hey just to restarts some discussion i was wondering how you guys think they should fix hockey economics. do you think that the game needs a salary cap system or a luxury system or what. this will interest ppl that do business too. the facts are as follows.
in the last 2 years the NHL as a whole lost approx 400 million dollars. out of the 30 teams in the league 20 are losing money in the current system. 75% of all the gross money made by the NHL is given to the players. the averge salary in the NHL currently is 1.8 million a year.

as it stands the owner have made 6 offers interms of new systems in one of them the players are still getting 53%( and this precentage can go up if disscusion occured) of the revenues produced by the NHL, under another system the average salary would drop to 1.3 mill per player per year. both of these systems would fix the NHL
the players have offered a luxury tax system. ill explain what this is below.

as a far as i understand it this is how a luxury tax system(LXS) and a salary cap system(SCS) work

LXS: this system works by setting a max marker lets say 40 million and a min maker lets say 30 mill. now every team in the NHL has to have a salary within those perameters. now if a team goes above the max marker they need to pay a tax so say if they are 10 mill over they pay a tax of $1 for every $1 they are above the marker. if they go over 10 mill over then they pay a tax of say $2 for ever $1. this taxed money is then taken and spread out among the other 29 teams that didnt go over the 40 mill marker. if you have a salary below 30 mill then you do not get a cut of this money either.

SCS: this system is alot easier then the other one it simply states that there is a marker say 40 mill again and no team can go over it. its just not alowed. in this system player contracts are not solidified thou so if a team needs to open up salary for another player they can renegotate there contract or even let a player go at any time. this system WILL fix the problem in the NHL but it would not do it nicely. its kinda like take a broken bone and put it back in place after youhave broken it then pining it there rather then getting someone to help you and going to the doctor.

now that you know at least some of the facts lets here what you guys have to say. for more info on the systems the Owners put forward go to NHL.com and click on the CBA link. gun i want to heard soemt he legal stuff from you too ok bud i dont really know that much on that front. ( could the NHL say fuck it and make a new leauge with there own system and if a player wants to play they have to sign a new contract and there old contract would become void?)

P.S. plz reply to this i need to talk to someone about hockey.

Let the NHL die. It's beyond repair; besides, this means I can actually afoord to watch hockey. The minor league team has moved into the Coliseum and is charging ~$10 a ticket.

Wolves are roughly the same price but they won't be playing at United Center in place of the Hawks. The Wolves still play at Rosemont Horizon (or whatever the corporate sellout name now is). That and I know the director of their fan relations committee. Old college buddy. She could probably get me in cheap (if not free).

The Oilers farm team (The Roadrunners) actually moved from T-dot to here recently, and the timing couldn't be better.
