what are they called and how big are they? I want to make sure I get the best quality versions for my edit. Also If someone could PM an alternate means of obtaining these I would be grateful but I'll find a way to use usenet if I have to.

I am obtaining these from Usenet and am happy to help you Octorox....PM me if you want help.

They are typically 17-19GB each!

Incidentially, I cannot see the German Empire Strikes Back on Usenet...all the others, just no Empire.  Can anyone else confirm this?

Cheers,

you both have a PM ;)

Ady do you have any more info on where these are(German versions) I can't seem to find any of them,I would love to get these in my collection to.

Thanks

They are in alt.binaries.hdtv.repost but the posts are around 210 days old so you'll need a good usenet provider with a high retention to be able to get them. here's what to search for using binsearch:

c-sw1h264
c-sw2h264
c-sw3h264
c-sw4h264
c-sw5h264
c-sw6h264

Thank you very much Ady,but was curious, where can 1 find the opening crawls to all films in HD but in English, would very much like to swap that part out.

Thanks again for the heads up.

Just use binsearch to search for "star wars 1080p hv"

Thanks again Ady for the prompt response, very kind of you.
but which version did you use specifically?
also I hate to keep bombarding you with questions but, what program let you edit the English crawl off the English version then edit it into the German rip? I did not think there was software yet that would allow us to do HD editing yet.

Thanks again for your guidance and wisdom.

Yeah....except for all of these programs.

Nifty list. At least I know I can edit HD... just don't have a way of getting HD content!

Damn, That's an old list ...

Then what is some good up to date programs for a PC with XP Pro SP2?

Author

Well, pretty much any of those programs, but their newer versions:

Adobe Premiere CS4 (includes Adobe Encore CS4 for DVD authoring)
Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0
Avid Media Composer 3.5 (Avid Xpress was discontinued last year, but if you're going the not-so-legal torrent route, Avid Xpress Pro HD can work with HD content)
Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 (as of 9.0, you can actually work in 4K if you so choose! - Vegas also has some fantastic 5.1 surround mixing software included)

Those are the only ones I know that work on Windows, but I have no idea if they work on XP with SP2 - I haven't used Windows in quite a long time.  But pretty much any modern professional editing software will allow you to work with HD content.

What don't you like about CS4?  I happen to like it quite a bit.

The whole world hates it! It lags as hell with quatro cores and especial in photoshop they put so many things in the wrong place in the wrong time. They changed the positioning of many actions and they put these god damned tabbed windows and the other useless stuff that require OpenGL acceleration.

If CS3 had the rotated canvas would be the ultimate PS available.

Plus they force you to donwload the whole suite to do some specific tasks with all the programs together.

Well, I don't, so that's clearly a bit of an exaggeration ;-)

And I haven't run into any of the problems you mention - I particularly like the tabs feature in Photoshop myself.  And they rearrange the buttons every once in a while, that's just something you have to get used to - I learned on Photoshop 5.5 LE, and then jumped from that to CS2 ... that was a bit of a shock.  I hated CS2 for a long time.

when you have to drag and drop the tabs, not only is time wasters but they overlap over the tools and panels so its dificult to work. I started with PS 7 for a month and then with CS. they have the same arrangement, why in the new cs4 version wanted to change them radicaly? that happened in AE and 3d Studio max too. anyways i dont want to spam this topic with offtopic :)

Im still staying with CS3 until Thomas Knoll decides to open his eyes and see what went wrong...

Arrgh so many versions to pick from. I want the best quality but the colour correction of Adywans releases are so tempting! Why isnt there a full bitrate colour corrected version? AVC-HD discs are so quick and easy to convert to from x264 mkv anyway just start with that in the first place! Hmmmm.

I could only ever find the AVCHD versions.  These would have been nice to have.  I'm just not interested in the wookiegroomer versions.
