http://comicbook.com/blog/2013/09/14/mark-hamill-in-training-for-star-wars-episode-vii-according-to-his-friend-robert-englund/

Sometimes Star Wars scoop comes from the most unusual of places. Robert Englund, who is best known for playing Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street series, is good friends with and even a former roommate of Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars series.

While appearing at the Nashville Comic Expo, Robert Englund talked about how both he and Hamill have done a lot of voice work for animation. He also let slip out a big secret in regards to exactly what Hamill is up to currently. “Mark now—they’ve got Mark in the gym, because Mark’s coming back as Luke Skywalker. They’ve got him doing his sit ups,” said Englund.

“Grow up. These are my Disney's movies, not yours.”

Well they could not add young Han to ROTS but they made a Lego young Han minifigure for the Lego Star Wars movie The Padawan Menace

Yeah, exactly.

Just seen this:

So they get 4 of "the most prominent Star Wars fans in all of Star Wars fandom"  to describe how they think Episode 7 should open and then they got an artist to draw storyboards. Only TFN would start with an opening heavily influenced by the crappy prequels that, quite frankly, sound like the most boring piece of crap opening since TPM. But NOT ONE of them even got how a Star Wars film should open. It's been tradition that it opens with the crawl, the pan down and a spaceship.

*sigh*

^Sums up my thoughts on that article. I've only heard second hand on here about the nefarious TFN, I suppose that's proof that they suck monkey balls.

If Episode VII opens in the Senate pod chamber from the prequels I'm setting fire to the cinema 5 minutes later ;-)

Here is a funny question. What's worse the 97 Special Edition the DVD 04 Special Edition or the BD 2011 Special Edition? Luckily since George Lucas sold the rights to Disney they will probably just repackage the BD versions of these movies but also make them available for DVD as well, unfortunately they won't be packaging the theatrical cuts on BD any time soon as I have heard, so the force is not really with us :(

They're all equally awful in their own special ways.

Fox is releasing DVD/Blu combo packs in the fall, but nobody knows what SE version is on the DVD's yet.

I thought Drew was checking on that?

Also, what does this really have to do with Episode VII anyhow?

Bank on it.

The prequels were so dark and serious and lacked any fun whatsoever.  I completely expect Star Wars 7 to do a complete 180.

It is becoming a foregone conclusion that the significant cast members from the 4 - 6 will return.  And I dont think theyll be taking a back seat to a bunch of youngsters.  There will be young cast members but I expect episode 7 to center around the original cast.  And it will feel like a reunion.  They'll be older, less mobile, grumpier and they will be comic relief.  They'll stumble around trying to do the things they used to only to realize they're just too old.  IT will be a recurring joke thru the film and it will set up the handoff to 8 and 9 which will feature the kids.

"I'm too old for this, kid"

-Han Solo.

Could be brilliant.  Could crash and burn.

I say this movie should have more smart characters and less of the dumb ones. That's right I am talking to you Jar Jar Binks.

It's called Star Wars not Star Tea-dance. It can't and shouldn't be a 'feel good' movie though it could have upbeat moments (just hopefully not so many goofy slapstick comedy moments).

Maybe it could have Jar Jar's kids in it?

By now, Jar Jar has been soo ridiculed and tormented by people who hate him, that now he himself has turned to the darkside. He's trained Jar Jar Jr. & Jill Jill the ways of Evil Doing, and they must be destroyed.

STAR WARS: Episode VII: JAR JAR's REVENGE

At the end, Mara Jade helps Leia Jr. use the force to put Jar Jar Jr. into an air-lock on the Mel. Falcon, and jettison him into space.

2011 SE is worse.

It has almost everything wrong with 1997 versions plus 2004's additions like the Hayden Ghost plus the magic appearing disappearing rocks and, "No NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

I just finished watching Back To The Future Part II and I noticed that Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown went to the year 2015, but when Marty is in front of a theatre there are no posters for episode VII.

Oh God that was awful. I feel like there are people out there who recognize something is popular but they don't understand what makes it good; in fact they don't like it that much but they play along. They think they will make it even "better" but end up making a mockery of it instead. I've seen it with TV shows with unexpected popularity, where all of a sudden it's like some third party comes in and drastically changes it, distorts it, not understanding the simple qualities that made it so great in the first place.

The blue elephant in the room.

According to Robot Chicken, Jar Jar was on the dark side all along. ;)

I'm not talking slap stick per se but I do think it will very much have that same feel in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls movie where Indy, at every step, begins to realize he is just getting too old.

There will be action and there will be comedy and depending on how much of each they use, it could be really good and it could be really bad.

I expect this movie (Ep 7 only) to serve two purposes:

1.Service the fans who miss the characters even if they're old.

2.Ween the fans off those characters and onto new ones by playing the 'they're just too old' card.

Anyone who hasnt paid attention wouldn't realize how much of the comic element there is in the films.  The whole notion of "out of the fryer and into the frying pan" is going to be played out with a crew of geriatrics.  Why do you think they're being asked to get into shape...to watch them sit on their duffs and give counsel?

In fact something tells me the old cast will be in some way directly though inadvertently responsible for the perils the younger cast will face.
