Quite some time ago I made a new fixed DTS-HD MA 5.1 track for the longer Fox Extended Cut retail BD, well at the time I did it we were only aware of 3 errors, well since then 2 more have come to light, well I have re done the HD track from scratch because of all I have learned and better tools as well, so now I want to let all you Conan Fans know that I have an "all new" HD track done and it is ready, it is in complete synch with the longer Fox release, I used my HK BD myself, and now ALL Choral parts are restored, ALL missing instruments are restored, and the Horse gallops are now gone from the track, I was told 2 of these fixes were going to be nearly impossible to fix but I have fixed them, there is no phasing or anything like that, there was a very kind member from blu-ray.com with a music background constantly checking ALL my samples, hell he heard shit I didn't even catch, so his help was great!

The errors were,
1. the opening raid, missing choral parts, all restored
2. Conan leaves Valeria horse gallops could be heard, no more!
3. after ghosts fail to take Conan's soul, choral parts restored
4. the orgy scene was missing the "gong" now restored
5. the Battle of The Mounds missing choral parts, now restored

so if there is any interest in this just shoot me a PM for links, I use uploaded.net.

Not sure I understand what you mean, none of the retail BD's has the proper 5.1 mix they all have these errors I explained above, explain a little more by what you mean "proper"? hell none of these movies Barbarian or Destroyer had 5.1 mixes when they released at the theater.

I do know that the UK releases tried to fix it but it sounded like pure shit, and it was censored for the horse falls.

to clarify...

on various blu-ray forums it was rumored that only the hong-kong blu-ray had the chorus, which was missing from the u.s. and european blu-ray, fully intact. the problem was, that no one with the disc actually confirmed or denied it. that's why i asked you, since you seam to have this disc. so in terms of proper would mean the chorus is intact.

as for the censoring of the horse falls on the u.k. bd. you can avoid this by chaning the language of your player to anything but english. this will play the movie in it's uncut state.

OK I did answer you, ALL BD's had these errors.

and yes that is true for the "old" UK BD, but as I said they made an attempt to fix the audio errors and the day/night scene, well they fixed the day/night scene but the supposed fixed audio sounds terrible! and on the "new" UK BD you cannot use that trick anymore, it is censored.

OK Everyone,
I have been thinking on doing this long before our US Theatrical was even finished, so when I asked You_Too if he wanted to do it I thought for sure he would say he was not interested because of how long we spent on the US cut, well long story short he loved the idea so now I am pleased to announce we have finished a "Bonus Blu-ray" for Conan The Barbarian!

Awesome... that commentary track is hilarious.

Is anyone kind enough to extract the original PCM mono and restored PCM stereo track from the US cut BD and upload it (the PCM isolated track would be a bonus!)?

I don't have the bandwidth or hardware to get the full BD50 version unfortunately.

Quick question about the Fox version of the film: does it feature the original closing scroll, or the revised version with Mako reciting the text and “…but that is another story” replaced with “…and that story shall also be told?”

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

“You don't do ‘Star Wars’ in Dobly.”

The Fox version is the full extended cut of the movie, the US cut has the original closing text and no Wizard.

Any chance we could get a cover for a double-disc case that would include both BDs?

If someone else wants to make one up I have no problems with that but I do not want the Team working on anymore Conan stuff, we have to much more going on and we have enough covers for now and we really want to put all this behind us once and for all and move on already lol.

Just want to clarify one thing to those interested in color timing of films.

Before DJ and I first started working on the US theatrical cut of Conan, I hadn't seen the film for many many years and I wasn't aware of the color differences. I simply thought that the only one with most scenes being "warm" was the US theatrical but DJ did show me that the extended version on DVD was in fact the same.

Those who have seen all versions know that both the US theatrical and extended versions on DVD have lots of dirt and grain, but that the blu-ray versions are all much clearer and the grain is smaller. I suspect they scanned the original negative for the blu-ray releases and thus they got all scenes the way they looked when they were shot, then ignoring the theatrical/extended color timing and instead giving us the dull-looking blu-ray version.

Maybe somebody with a bit more film knowledge could explain how color timing was done back then, and why the negatives always seem to lack this.

And by the way, another interesting fact is that not all scenes have warmer colors on the DVDs. Some are cooler! A good example is one shot around the 1 hour mark, where Conan is riding his horse through a snowy landscape. In the retail blu-rays, that shot looks natural while in the original versions it's very blue.

OK so how can we get our hands on the Extended BD? I downloaded the theatrical and have played it more times than I can count!

Indeed, the theatrical BD is nothing short of awesome. This would make a great supplement! Here's hoping it shows up soon in the usual places!

“That’s impossible, even for a computer!”

“You don't do ‘Star Wars’ in Dobly.”

Links for the EE version will be available tomorrow to those interested.

Thanks

Are the links going to be the same as Night Of The Living Dead? Because it's going extremely slow at 60kbps. I don't really want to go with a premium account.

doombot, you'll always have the problem with various services

put it on usenet: long availability (currently up to 5 years), not everyone has it and/or doesn't wanna learn how to use
put in on online service like uploaded: very good download speed for premium users, not everyone wants to drop down the cash for premium download
put in on torrent sites: starts with good transfer speeds, but dies quickly.

personally i say usenet is the best option. the uploader can move on rather quickly, since he only needs to keep the files for 1 or 2 days to make sure everything is fully uploaded and wait for feedback.
