Why wasn't Hamill on the commentary? (2004 DVD)

Mark Hamil is usually up for these kinds of things? I wonder why he, and other cast members, were not on the audio commentaries?

Yeh, I miss Ford and Hamill dearly on those tracks, Anthony Daniels or Kenny Baker would've been great as well (after all most of the story's told through the photoreceptors of their characters).

I'm hoping the reason was because they hated the altered versions, but that's too much to hope for!

By the way are the commentaries edited?

i'VE ONLY HEARD THE COMMENTARY ON A NEW HOPE, AND cARRIE FISHER WAS THE MOST INTERESTING THING ON IT, EXCEPT SHE DIDN'T GET MUCH OF A CHANCE TO SAY ANYTHING, i WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE HEARD MORE ANECDOTES ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED ON THE SET, AND LESS OF THE EFFECTS TALK, BEN BURT RAMBLING ON ABOUT HOW HE FOUND THE PERFECT LASER BLAST SOUND BY TWANGING ON HIGH TENSION WIRES IN THE MOJAVE DESERT.

That's all they ever talk about in the making-of features. They seem to think its some god-sent gift to be able to tweak (there's that key word) an annoying sound out of a lawnmower! I personally couldn't give a damn!

The commentaries are one of the worst special features on the disc. If you've watched the long doc, you can basically skip them. The same info is repeated, sometime verbatim. They couldn't even get all four/five people in the same room to watch it, they just punch in a soundbite where they feel it's needed. Very sad.

I'm assuming the reason they didn't do a full cast commentary is because that would cost a lot of money... and they'll do it on the ultimate editions.

Haha, I'm kind of surprised everyone expected good commentary out of these things. Seriously, TRY staying awake for longer than five minutes on the Phantom Menace commentary (i'm pretty sure that Attack of the Clones got the same treatment). George Lucas is not only uninspired nowadays, he's also a bore to listen to. Harrison Ford not being involved in commentary doesn't surprise me - isn't he a little more adverse to the whole Star Wars thing than his castmates?

I actually found Luca$ to be more entertaining than the other commentators. And for that reason I wish he would record a full-length, unedited, commentary.

Harrison Ford wont do anything unless you pay him 20 million dollars. Did you see him on those Indiana Jones docs? He looked bored out of his skull.
