That's not a very good idea, well it is in theory but there have been numerous reports on another forum (http://thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=318660) that colour levels aswell as the sound levels are way off, at least in certain parts.

I agree that best thing to do would be to calibrate the LD with something like Video Esentials, but I would also think thats now expensive and hard to find
