I guess nobody liked Leonardo's joke. Anyway, I've got a stocked Kindle (app) and a revised, though still ambitious, reading list. I've got a good 2+ years for all this catch up reading, and I can always skip some of these if my time grows short. I don't need to read every solitary book that's come out in this time period, though I do want to get a good sense of events and character development.

I'm reading the Thrawn trilogy right now, as everyone says this is the more important. I like it so far; he seems to understand the characters. Afterward...

The Dark Empire comic series. Because why not.

I, Jedi - I'll read this one in place of the Jedi Academy trilogy for efficiency.

The Black Fleet Crisis trilogy

The Corellian trilogy

Hand of Thrawn Duology

Union: The Marriage of Luke Skywalker (comic) - Again, because why not.

New Jedi Order - An abbreviated run of just five entries: Vector Prime, Star by Star, Traitor, Destiny's Way, and The Unifying Force

I would appreciate suggestions of which are the essential reads of the Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi serieses. They're recent enough that I haven't found a reliable description of which ones are the barebones essentials.

Now, this may be entirely too much content to shove into a relatively short time. I may go in spurts, but that's my goal. If I start to run out of time or get tired of it, I can go back to the abridged audiobooks for some of these. I haven't read a Star Wars novel since I was a kid, really, and I'm enjoying Heir to the Empire so far. We'll see. (And I might knock off the Black Fleet Crisis and/or Corellian trilogies in order to skip ahead if need be.)
