It would be bleeding cool if it turned out to be true.

I have been watching the loose canon reconstructions of the lost episodes and its pretty cool that fans taping the audio and photographing the screen back in the sixties have given us some way of watching these criminally junked classics but the real thing turning up is always a good thing.

I want to believe but I can't.

Surely they would have turned up already if they were out there?

Surely if the BBC had them they would have rushed them onto disc for the anniversary and not reveal it on the anniversary.

Well there was a program on recently to mark the closure of Television center and they did say that, while clearing the place out, they discovered a lot of tapes with programs they thought had been lost forever. So i could be plausible that they have found something.

Martin Robinson Delaney? Sweet! An African American Doctor Who would be awesome! Though he's been dead awhile... Maybe after all these years of making a show about time travel... The BBC have discovered REAL time travel!

Exciting day!

Yeah, I'm really pleased with that outcome. :)

Although I grew to like Matt Smith too, I was ready for an older take on the character at this point.  Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker were the ones I grew up with as a young 'un, and I'm hoping Capaldi might end up as memorable as those two.

^ lol. Read that somewhere else earlier. Must have been a coincidence. Moffat wouldn't have risked telling the World War Z crew.

Capaldi is gonna amazing. The format had gotten stale so this should shake it up!

In his interview, Capaldi alluded to playing a Doctor of a certain "ilk." What general categories of Doctor do you see?

For instance were the 5th and 10th Doctors of the same ilk (as alluded to in a Xmas special)? How would you lump the other doctors? And given the story line, what sort of Doctor is called for now, iyho?

The blue elephant in the room.

Sixth or third, I would guess. Those are the times the Doctor has regenerated to an older looking version.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that the 12th would be of the same ilk as the 6th, who was the same ilk of the 1st.

Note: 11th seems to be of the same ilk as the 2nd, and 8th seems to be the same ilk as the 4th.

I so don't belong in this thread. =P I've seen a handful of the third Doctor's episodes and am now going through the entire series as it was released. I hope I can make it. Susan and Barbara are driving me mad...

Seeing as how 11's in 3 of those categories, maybe 12 will be in the one it's not?

That's my though as well.  Which, by the way, I'm not really looking forward to.  That's one of the things that kept me from really connecting to it as a kid. Having a Doctor who is older than me doesn't really interest me. 30s and 40s is fine and has worked really well the past three Doctors.  I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I also don't see how Clara is going to fit in.  Don't know why and it's based on nothing at all at this point (obviously).  Again, hope I'm pleasantly surprised. She's become one of my favorite companions.  Love her depth and independence.

^the Eleventh Doctor claims to be just over 1000 years old (and he is probably lying) so how old are you prepared to confess to being Anchorhead? ;-D

I just got done watching "Blink". WOW!  That was such a great episode.

Thanks again for that list of recommended episodes Bingowings!

The definitive DR WHO serial for me will always be 1988's 'Remembrance of the Daleks'.

Loved all the allusions to the Doctor's dark history and the 'Hand Of Omega'...

the sinister British neo-nazis collaborating with the Daleks subplot...

all the references back to the shows past...

Ace kickin' some Dalek ass...

existential angst over tea with Jeffrey from the Fresh Prince...

and of course when this cliffhanger happened I nearly crapped myself*...

A quarter century ago, really...? bloody hell I feel old now ;-)

(* They need to bring back the multi-part serials. It's not the same without those cliffhangers IMO)
