Just bought an Amiga 500 (complete with power supply, mouse and monitor) at a flea market for 30 bucks! Now I need to find out why it won't boot. No screen, just power lights on.

I sold mine when I was about 15 to one of my brother's friends. I made a mint at the time but now my cheeks are stained with tears of regret.

Aye, when in working condition, these little babies can deliver truckloads of videogamey goodness. Unfortunately, unless I can find a good doc, there doesn't seem to be much hope for this patient. For one, I don't have a way to connect the rgb video out, I only have monochrome rca output, so I cannot see if there are color coded errors (green, red, gray all mean different things). I just have a black screen, power light on, caps lock light on. No apparent problems on the motherboard. Some odd stuff going on with the expansion module, but removing that doesn't change the situation a bit.

I seem to remember this thing being a frequent issue due to it being large and heavy, yet with a flimsy interface into the back...

I had an Amiga 600 but some kids jumping on the garage roof and falling through letting the rain in put an end to that sort of thing (well until emulation made playing Starglider 2, Captain Blood and Dalek Attack a possibility again).

The hours I spent making animations of the OS USS Enterprise on Deluxe Paint IV.

We should start an OT.com Steam group. =P

Your wish is my command.

I started it because I am the highest ranking... holy crap, Tobar!  I guess you should have started the group.

By winning the electoral college (and popular vote, as if that mattered) I am the Player of the Week of team OT.com.

Xhonzi, invite! I must be part of this!

Also, did you mean to write, "Prequel Haters Untie!" and not "Prequel Haters Unite!"

Now there are three of them?! /Nute Gunray

Just sent you a friend request, then I'll invite you to the group, unless Xhonzi beats me to it.

Nice to see I got the ball rolling.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay (2004)

What with the new Riddick film coming out this week I decided to run through all of the other Riddick related material that has come before it. I started this game once a few years back but never got far with it. Always meant to go back but the site I had bought it from had gone under so I couldn't redownload it.

Unfortunately, it's no longer available from Steam either. Thankfully though GOG still has it and so I was able to finally escape. This was a really great game. Solid mechanics, good pacing, nice level design, excellent writing and a great cast.

I was surprised to find out the prison warden was none other than Howling Mad Murdock. He gave a solid understated performance but I think they missed a perfect opportunity to have him also portray some crazy prisoner.

I also think this would be a perfect game for someone to adapt for Oculus Rift support.

Up next is Assault on Dark Athena, let's see how that goes...

Yes!  It's an obscure, self-indulgant reference to a sweater I saw in the Signals Catalogue* one time.   It, however, made more sense as it read: Bad Spellers of the World: UNTIE!

He was the only OT.commer that had given me his Steam name/accepted my friend request.

viz-a-viz HE was the only one I could invite.

I have tried to resend the group invite... however it appears that I can't.  005, are you sure you've not got one?

I played Butcher Bay on old Xbox, and really liked it.  I bought a PC version to loan to my PS/PC friend, and he never played it and never gave it back.  :(

I bought it a 3rd time with Dark Athena on 360 and played it a 2nd time.  They changed a bit in the middle, and I think I prefered it the way it was (mech segment)... but I will agree that it is an awesome game and a lot of fun.  I further agree that it would be a good match for the Rift.

Dark Athena was a decent expansion pack... but didn't seem to improve on Butcher in any meaningful way.  It was simply more game in a different setting.  Which was fine, but nothing to celebrate, in my opinion.

For anyone sweating bullets on this issue, please relax: We got 005 into the Steam Group.

For anyone following or wondering if they should join the Steam Group, please be advised that Johnny Ringo is the Player of the Week.

And for anyone wanting System Shock 2 (or named C3PX), be advised that Good Ol' Games (gog.com) has it for $2.50.  I have this version and it works just fine on my 64bit Windows 7 machine.

That is all.

I just want to say everybody here sucks for not liking and playing the games I like and play and leaving nobody for me to talk to about them.

That is all.

P.S. The next game I will be purchasing is Rage. In the interest of not sucking, buy it.

Can I buy it in 2 years?  Will I not suck then?

Oh, man... I just bought Rage.  Looks like it was a couple weeks too early.

GOG.com is amazing, it's how digital media should be sold. User friendly, DRM free and reasonably priced. I've bought shed loads of games off that site.

Plus the games usually come with free bonus guides, artwork, music etc etc.

If digital media had been offered like this from day one, then the current culture of not paying for anything would've never started IMO.

Ooooh they've got 'The Chaos Engine' now. I used to play this guy.... ;-)

But...I haven't played anything this week...

Does that come with house keeping responsibilities or is it an empty title?

Something about Rage..

I love me some Rage. It runs surprisingly well on my Surface Pro tablet. I'm considering getting the Scorchers DLC, I've played it but I don't own it. seemed like fun.

EDIT: by the by it's a hefty download if you're going that route. circa 25GB.

It could be fun to actually have someone to tackle the co-op missions with.

I've also been thinking about grabbing System shock 2 lately. might check out that GOG deal.
