Yeah, I get what you're saying. I guess since I read the book, I knew who he was and didn't really need the scene. My problem was that Luke barely mentions him at the start of the film("That's what you said when Biggs and Tank left."). Pacing issues. I agree it is a great change but the wampa change is my favorite.
