Has anyone thought about sound effects before? I mean, the immersive elements of film are really visuals and the sound that goes with it. Not the music, because only the sound effects are tied to the visuals on screen.

I know that in many ways the old sound effects define the starwars experience, but I believe that the movie can come across as much more realistic and a far more effective experience if some outdated sound effects were removed, and new ones were added in.

I see it as possibly being the difference between dvd and blu-ray sound quality, in some respects. I was never very excited about blu ray, but then I watched my first blu-ray movie, that being Saving Private Ryan. So immediatly I was gripped by the amazing realism of the sound in the opening scenes. The explosions, and especially gun fire. As though someone really was firing a weapon.

Or perhaps I've gone on a useless tangent, and Adywan already did some work sound wise? I've seen revisited, and I don't believe that was the case but I might be wrong. Anyhow, it's something I feel could be looked into, and is a great tool to enhance the experience.
