As rough of a place as it can be, the world is still a pretty awesome place full of all sorts of fantastic things to look forward to. But you're bound to miss it when you spend all your free time watching 10 - 15 horror films a week.

Thanks mom, but I'm doing just fine. ; )

Talking about Dur, yo! The guy who's in love with and obsesses over a 50 year old actress he has never met.

He's becoming Davnes/Erika all over again (Can't be good when someone's obsessive sexual fantasy becomes part of their persona on a web forum. The desperation is off the charts there). I guess I just find self-inflicted loneliness really creepy, and the self-loathing that goes with it equally discomforting.

Just felt like pointing out that it doesn't have to be that way. Makes me feel sad for him, guess my mother instinct start kicking in. ;)

The guy is just expressing himself and playing around and having a bit of fun here, as is Davnes. Keep your personal attacks to PM's if it really bothers you furrey bollox.

WHAT!?!?!?!

There was a second Star Wars movie! I had no idea! I've got to see if I can find this somewhere!

I remember watching that ages ago. From what I remember it had something to do with a crystal and mind splinters in eyes didn't it? Or am I remembering it wrong?

Joss Whedon should have put him in a Ruffalo wig and cast him as the Hulk. That said, I feel like his acting has improved a great deal over the years.

Just watched Oblivion today....

I really enjoyed this film a lot... Yeah it was cliched and did take ideas from other places but it had some of it's own original ideas mixed in....

I watched it on bluray and it looks and sounds great... The music score I think is phenominal... Best score I have heard this year and it helped carry the film well.

Despite what reviews have said and people say watch moon instead... It's better...

I think Oblivion was a great film in it's own right and I would reccomend it highly as brilliant sci-fi in terms of design and visuals and sound... Plot is also pretty good... And although it seems borrowed it was written in 2005 apparently before moon... I have seen moon and it does have the edge on Oblivion in some ways but not in others...Oblivion has a broader scope than moon and well you can really imerse in the entertainment and the visuals and music Blow Moon out of orbit.

Kosinski is good.

^^ Though I liked MOON quite a bit, I also would give a slight edge to OBLIVION, for the reasons you mentioned.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS:     How freaky would it have been if the OBLIVION pair had had a robot helper that went rogue and gave aid to the humans as in MOON?

I'd ask where you found that but I don't think I want to know. Can we forward this on to Joss Whedon?

Not as bad as the Brosnan films, but still not as good as the 1962-1989 era. Watching the two films back to back made QoS a bit more interesting.

How was anything I said to Dur in any way a personal attack?

Star Wars.

But this time on my new bargain JSC copy.

Wait till I find my mouth as it fell on the floor somewhere...

I've seen samples from some of the preservations, so I knew this would be good..and that it had no DVNR, and had better color than the DC/GOUT...but I didn't think it would touch my preferred transfer, the Technidisc.

But it does, and is arguably a more definitive presentation due to the color being more balanced overall. I'm wondering if perhaps the two share the same source as some things look very close, as if the Technidisc merely overcooked the image.

The 1985 remix is presented perfectly, with a nice layer of natural tape hiss. The full CAV presentation easily bests all the US discs from Mitsubishi, Pioneer and especially the Definitive Collection. The only downsides are the very slight usage of EE (but tiny for LD as most always had EE to some degree) and the hardcoded Japanese subs. (which aren't bad at all since the film is shifted upwards)

Wow. A SW release without decisive flaws...what is the world coming to...this is really that good. Now I need to find a non-astronomical ESB and ROTJ.

Dwayne "i Gur" Xhonson and I have several things in common:

1. Last names start with "Xhon"

2. Hulk for Halloween in 2012

3.... okay maybe it was just two

Of course, my Hulk costume was full of fake muscles.  :(

I'd like to see a fan edit of CR and QoS that puts the last 30 minutes of CR in as the first 30 minutes of QoS.  Both would be about 2 hrs then... and you wouldn't have to keep track of 'that guy in Bond's trunk' between sequels.

All the Daniel Craig films, all the Roger Moore films (with the one exception of  FYEO), all the Brosnan films and TLD are as tonally weird as Diamonds Are Forever.

I've never understood the negative buzz for QOS, the film is just as good/bad/silly as Casino Royale and Skyfall is if anything more silly and less interesting (especially in the final act).

Bond films are silly films by definition just look at Dr No.

The reason LTK didn't feel like a Bond film was because it was being too close to a Bond book (ironically considering the source material wasn't Fleming).

For me Casino Royale was excellent, Quantum of Solace okay and Skyfall rubbish.

The Big Lebowski (2008)

It seems like at least once every other month I encounter someone start off a sentence with: "Remember that part in The Big Lebowski when..." and then I say, "Well, I've never actually seen it..." They they say, "WHAT? You've NEVER seen THE BIG LEBOWSKI!" Jaws end up all over the floor, I get chastised, the conversation dies, and I leave feeling like less of a man.

So, to combat this, I finally watched The Big Lebowski.

I was expecting something very different, something I wasn't really going to enjoy that much filled with the kind of broad humor I don't really get behind very easily. All the gifs and clips and quotes I've seen online have made me think this was some silly sort of comedy you'd expect to find playing on a loop at frat houses across America.

Turns out... Okay... Well, yeah, it is totally the sort of movie you'd expect to find playing on an endless loop in frat houses... But, it is also much more than that and nothing like I expected. I found it to be a fairly intelligent film, and quite a bit of good silly fun.

From now on I can just say, "Yeah, of course we remember that part!" and the conversation can continue. I feel like much has been accomplished this week.

I got it, I got it!

JEDIT: Maybe I should shut up, since I got the Xhonson part (which seems rather obvious), but I suspect the real joke lies in "i Gur", which is meaningless to me.  So no, I don't got it, I don't got it.
