You mean this?
Sorry, I'm using my work PC and can't access Vimeo here (only via the Android app on my mobile). Of the clip in question (a trench run display graphic entitled "Targeting Computer Redesign 2"), he says:
"I'm assisting with VFX for an under-the-radar redux of ANH"
Sure sounds like ANH:R HD to me. Unless someone else is working on such a project?
Spoiler free for the ST

Well it wouldn't be under the radar if you'd heard of it, now would it?
Indeed. Until they let it slip on Vimeo.....

It isn't ANH:R HD. It sounds more like it could be Angel's project to me
So Angel has the brilliant idea of being completely silent about his edit, till randomly one day, he releases the finished thing, hence not building up hype and saving people the "waiting" feeling.
That's why he hasn't been on here for a while...
Wait, what?
Wasn't bobgarcia doing some vfx tests for anh at one point? It could be his maybe. I know angel was helping him out with his ROTS edit.
I find it hard to believe anyone would want to do a fan edit of ANH, after seeing ANH:R and knowing an HD version is in the works. If it was one of the other movies (excluding ESB), I would understand it. Fan edits of ANH are extremely rare and ANH:R is pretty much THE definitive version.

Fan edits are very subjective works. What's 'definitive' for one might be awful for another - whether they feel it goes too far, doesn't go far enough, or could have changed things in a different way.
I know Angel in particular had a visual style of doing things which was pretty different to Ady's. Revisited is more "purist" in its goals (retaining the 70's look whilst still fixing things) but other editors want to update and change more than Ady is, and that's fair enough if that's what they feel is an improvement. That's the beauty of fan edits - they cater for yourself and those like you.
Fair enough. I can't say I'm familiar with Angel's style.

Angel's style of would barsterised the OT. I actually really love his work, but i can see why Ady dismissed his ideas, as its a little over the top for this.
But if Angel is doing something else i would love to know....at least something;-)
The visual style wasn't the only thing about Angel describable as "over the top."

As much as I agree, can we not go down this road for the millionth time?
I missed something then.
Angel is an old friend of mine, he has a very unique style, we bump into each other on different sites, I do know that he still is doing concept paintings & has acquired skills in CG animation....His Deviantart blog shows that he is currently solely working on ANH, if you look at the ROTS section there is concepts in conjunction with Aalenfae

This isn't the Angel appreciation/dissing thread.
I personally liked a lot of his mockups and ideas I wasn't too keen on the personality politics surrounding his work and most of it is very different to what Ady is trying do though some of his mockups would fit in perfectly well, particularly his ESB colouring of the Falcon interiors and the re-framing of Jabba's Barge (not all his work was eye popping but were corrective like Ady's work).
As someone who submitted sometimes exciting and interesting still images to the boards here I would like to see what he could do with the moving image.
I hope Ady's ROTJ has at least some the energy of Angel's mockups, though I hope the humans look a little less pale and over-contrasty.
We should get back on topic, but I want to say that I love Ady's, Angel's, and Harmy's work. They all bring back the film I loved in different ways. Harmy recreates the great film we saw in the theatres. Adywan creates what the SE should have been, fixing all the issues with the original, be it editing and FX. And Angel, is doing what I've always wanted to see a sort off ultimate special edition, an edition that changes lots (more than really needed) to make the film burst and pop and amaze even in the modern day.
They're all very different, and that's great.
There wasn't actually a problem between me and Angel. We just had different ideas on how to approach certain things. Sure we butted heads now and then but that's just what happens when doing something like this. It was just the final outburst against me that pissed me off a bit, but it seems that it may not have been coming from Angel after all.
I would have loved to have worked with him on ROTJ:R and the other edits as i did like some of his ideas and i think he is an incredibly talented person but, as he has now disappeared, that seems highly unlikely, which is a shame.
I haven't seen his deviantart page so i'll have to check it out.
You were quite harsh with him. But as Bingo said "This isn't the Angel appreciation/dissing thread"
I've been in contact with Angel for a long while after he left the forums, but currently it's been like 6 months since he appaeared for the last time.

Sadly it's difficult to have Bernini and Borromini both in the same team, opossite convictions and methods of work. Sadly because most of us would have loved to see what would come up of that collaboration, specially when the revisited saga reached those movies that are more open to changes.
Another cool thing I found that's somewhat similar http://swremixed.deviantart.com/gallery/. Kinda like some of the designs. Angel's pics are cool too.
That seems to be where all the mock ups he took down from here ended up (including some earlier versions of Ady's stuff by the looks of things..ironically).
