the article is posted both online and in the actual newspaper...
It looks sweet!!

Wow the spectator, very impressive, I live in the area, and it is indeed a big paper.

They are owned by SUN media if I'm not mistaken, so you never know, it may end up being circualated much wider.

I grow jealous of Luke's success. Too bad I'm too lazy to write to newspaper

So I wrote to 3 fansites (one major, one multimedia-deposit, one nostalgia-oriented).

One has already posted my e-mail and placed a banner: take a look.

I got response from another - the banner will be added with the new update.

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

I just signed then - hows this for nice, round numbers. My signature ID was 31500, and as soon as I went back to the main page, the total signatures were at 30,800.

Excuse my cross-SciFi reference here, but Mr Lucas should take sme advice from everyone's favourite Vulcan, Mr Spock:

"The needs of the many (30,800 fans), outweigh the needs of the few, or the one (Lucas)."

One cannot argue with that logic ... well ... not when it comes to Star Wars Original Trilogy anyway

...Oh, I meant to add - that's a GREAT article Luke. Give yourself a pat on the back. And should this petition succeed and we all find ourselves basking in the glory of spinning the OT DVD at home watching it projected onto a wall while a re-mastered (but no dialogue changes) 5.1 sound mix shakes everything loose within a few blocks .... then give yourself a great big thump on the back.

That article was awesome Luke, and I sincerely think we may be able to get this on the New York Times. No joke. They had an article lamenting how much they want Star Wars on DVD, especially after hearing about Indiana Jones coming to DVD. If we all send some emails to them, it could happen. I suggest to Jay and all the rest, email them!

Luke, talk to the person who contacted you about writing the article and see if this article will be spread in more of their sister newspapers. If that paper is indeed owned by Sun Publications or Sun Media or whatever it's called and it's the same company as the one down here in the States, the distribution could be huge (I know of six papers here in Illinois alone that are owned by Sun Publications - one right here in my city).

DJR, do you have an e-mail address we should all use to contact the NYTimes? I'd hate for us all to be sending to different addresses and have it fall on deaf ears. If we all send to one person, they could potentially see our motivation. Just so long as we don't sign our e-mails "Jayson Blair."

E-mails mostly. Haven't had much time to do anything else at the moment. The one big place I tried to post word at wouldn't let me do it (Fark.com). I figured if you want exposure, that site is the place to get it.
