I do think that DJ has a point about the blanks. Ever since I started getting Verbatim DVDs I haven't had a single failed disc.

Of course it might be different with BDs since they're so much larger but, well, quality is quality I guess.

jedi, it's because everyone I know gets far more coasters when burning duels vs single layer. Hence the nervousness and intimidation. And heck, some burners just ain't so good at it. A good friend of mine was getting a 35%+ coaster ratio so he replaced his burner and presto, now it's around ten %.

Then get a good burner and buy good blanks, I have yet(knocks on wood) burn a bad BD50, no coasters at all(knocks on wood again) pioneer burner and Verbatim blanks all the way.

Careful, my friend... You are responding without knowing the facts. He had a good burner and only used the best blanks. Yet he still ended up with lots of coasters. He got frustrated and bought a new burner and now its ok. His old burner is still in use for single layer discs (and always works perfectly).

Shit happens. I know plenty of people who get coasters here and there. As for me, ImgBurn is verifying my CONAN burn as I type this. Amazing how fast I was able to download it, by the way. I'll be able to pop it in my PS3 by ten PM if all goes well.

Well then maybe you should state all of them then, I can only respond to what you have typed and I am able to read right? so my answers stand.

Burner, Discs and Imgburn, what else is there that can make so many coasters? unless you do not know what to set the speed to, these are all that is needed, but who cares it seems you got it now so just enjoy and we will just leave it at that.

OK, why start a fight? You made an assumption that was incorrect. I corrected you. I wasn't being a dick or anything.

I myself wasn't getting coasters. I was always unwilling to risk it and had my pal burn my 50's. He happens to be as technically smart as anyone I know so it wasn't his fault. His burner simply wasn't performing properly. He did some research and begrudgingly bought another burner (that was actually cheaper than the one he was using) and his coaster issue went away. Likely it was just bad luck and his first burner wasn't quite right (but only with duel layer BluRay).

There's no need for a peepee contest. We are all friends here and as such should strive to help each other out. I know I always go the extra mile and clearly from the looks of Conan you do too, so have a beer and by Crom, enjoy what is best in life.

Watched it last night. This is one of the most impressive fan rescues I have ever seen. I cannot imagine the work that went into this. Truly impressive.

I'd love to see something similar with the extended cut.

Speaking of Conan The Barbarian  does anyone here have these DVD's, either the R2 Holland, R3 and R4 SE? I would love to get the English DTS track if at all possible.

Thanks

*edit - never mind this question lol, I have it on my 2-disc Set R2 DVD.

DJ, do you happen to know which subtitles would fit this restoration? Would that be the early DVD release subs?

You can try and re time the DVD subs, but obviously you do have to have the first US release DVD for the US Theatrical version, or you could get the subs from the Universal BD and edit and time those for this release, the Universal BD was the base for this, not the Fox BD, for some reason the Universal release already had the Conan\Subotai scene removed, just another reason how this release across the board has been fucked up, why in the hell would Uni not have that scene when all previous DVD's besides the US cut had it? but it did make our job just slightly easier since it was gone lol.

lol so if We in the US wanted the full extended version we have to import, Fox is full uncut.

hope this helps

Come on guys am I to believe that no one has listened to ABC's FULL score track? I know I am biased being on the Team and all but this is hands down the absolute best full score I have ever heard, he literally worked his ass off to create this, and he even said himself this blows away the Imperial Edition DVD we did for ESB, and that sounded great! so please if you haven't listened to it yet, please take some time and give it a spin and tell him\us what you think?

Thanks

I will listen to the whole score sometime for sure, but I think most people will hear enough of it even when choosing the 5.1 mix, since the score is pretty loud in it.

Actually, why not upload ABC's score remix as a separate CD on myspleen?

Because it is not done yet.

I was hoping it would be done when we released but it wasn't, and I have no idea when it will be.

PM sent.

...Even though I'll probably cop shit for it (you're supposed to request in the myspleen thread).

ANYWAY, had a chance to skim through this and its amazing. Thank you so much, guys, for making and sharing this wonder.

I was especially grateful that the pop-up menu options are all presented within the 2.35:1 frame since that is the shape of the projector screen I watch such material on (and since the audio cannot be changed on the fly).

I know I've asked before, but I can't help but do so again while the project is still fresh and the materials (hopefully) still accessible to you wizards:

Any chance of getting a updated restored soundtrack that we could sync to the European version? I very much appreciate both cuts of the film.

My humble thanks, either way.

I will continue to seed this at myspleen until my seedbox provider realises that I should've paid my renewal fee a week ago...

I’ve recently had the chance to get this disc and I’ve watched it twice already.

WOW, I'm was really impressed!

The packing is fantastic! It comes with a slipcover and the artwork employs the original poster art. IMO it’s one of the greatest movie posters of all time!

The menus are also very beautiful. Simple, yet effective. I usually hate menus and disc intros, but if they were all made like this, I wouldn't have a problem with them at all.

Regarding the presentation itself, wow, what can I say?

It must be described as a labor of love!

How refreshing it is to see the US TC for the first time in high definition.! While the DC is not offensive like other revisionisms we get these days, for me, it pales in comparison the US TC.

The cuts are totally seamless and so is the integration of the original LPCM track. Speaking of which, it's such a great and powerful track. It reminds me why I love LD PCM tracks so much. It barely feels like a mono track, as the sound fills the room and it has lots of LFE.

But that’s not all of it. The disc also comes with 2 lossless isolated score tracks, which are fantastic additions. I can only imagine the work involved in 'rescuing' and treating them for this presentation.

Finally there are the soundtrack CDs and they’re such a special treat.

Congratulations to DarkJedi and everyone involved! The more I watch it, the more I love it. Can't wait for your next work!

Thanks for making such a fantastic work available to us enthusiasts!

This was a post I made last december, when I got a copy of the first version of the Conan disc (without the full color re-timing and hi-res audio tracks).

Well, that version got me completely enthusiastic and instantly turned me into a fan of Dark Jedi and his team. I couldn't wait for their next project.

What I couldn't have guessed is that it would be a DEFINITIVE EDITION of Conan: The Barbarian.

This week, I spent some amazing time with the new disc (actually, it's a folder that my BD player reads directly from an external hard drive) and I must say it's absolutely incredible.

What I said before stands truer than ever: this edition can only be described as a labor of love!

I was so thrilled to finally watch my favorite cut of my favorite movie with amazing clarity, proper colors and a spectacular powerful original audio.

I played back several scenes over and over again with the multiple audio tracks, and they're all fantastic. In the end, my preferred version, along with the original audio, was the high resolution DTS-HD MA 2.1 (96kHz) track. It's simply superb!!!

The full lengh score is also something unbelievable. The stuff of dream if you know what I mean.

Now I'm gonna have an even harder time waiting for the next project.

dark_jedi, I'd rather use Uploaded.net to download these projects instead of torrenting. If we're using a Premium account there, might as well have people use the full version of Download Accelerator Plus and each Blu-ray Project as ISO. For Uploaded.net/.whichever, might as well have the .rar parts as 1.50GB chunks instead of 400MB.

@FremenDar007:  While I don't know that there is any one, single BEST option when considering the sharing of multiple 25-50GB projects, my personal leaning are ALWAYS going to be in favor of a *FREE* (or donation supported) service such as MySpleen vs a PAID file hosting service such as upload.net, here are a few of the reasons:

1) Cost.

uploaded.net (like MOST file hosting services) offers a variety of "Premium" service payment options…including $6.99 for 48 hours, $13.99 for 1 month, $92.99 for 1 year, among others.  To access premium services, not only does this cost me money…but requires credit card payment (which opens one up to potential misuse AND completely removes the possibility of anonymity when DLing legally grey to black materials.)

Although it is a private (invite-only) torrent site, MySpleen does NOT require any payment to use their service.  (Yes, MySpleen does allow for and rely upon donations…but donations are OPTIONAL and a person could easily maintain good standing by keeping their share ratios high…a positive incentive that helps promote further increase sharing of bandwidth and torrent longevity).

2) Speed and Longevity.

Yes, uploaded.net (like MOST dedicated file hosts) does offer "Free" services, but a capped bandwidth of 50 KB/s (Guest) or 70 KB/s (Free-Registered), with no simultaneous downloads, and one file every 180 minutes download restriction…it would literally take a FREE user of uploaded.net a minimum of TWO WEEKS (including in excess of 30 separate visits) to DL a 50GB file partitioned into 1.5GB segments.  Additionally, uploaded files will be deleted after 30 consecutive days of inactivity…not to mention that similar services have come under increasing fire from the US and other government agencies with whole hosting services being brought down (along with the files and potentially users associated with them).

Torrent options, including MySpleen can vary widely (but, on the plus side…with a solid connection and with strong seeding in place, I was able to DL this current CTB82USTC_TB torrent in roughly 3 1/2 hours during its opening weekend…under other circumstances, one could probably expect it to take a couple/few days).  There is no set lifespan of a torrent, it will remain both strong and alive so long as end users support it…with larger sized 25-50 GB shares, this would likely adversely impact many users ability to continuously seed for months on end, but there is no set lifespan.

3) Community.

There is NO uploaded.net community.  It is a paid service geared toward making it's FREE use so prohibitive that FREE users will turn into PAID users out of frustration.  Those that will actively promote the use of uploaded.net, rapidshare.com, and the MANY similar services nearly always have a vested interest (they paid for the service themselves and therefore they want to get good value by bringing others to that same service) in the expanded use of that service.  Basically, it's a technologically based pyramid scheme.

Largely comprised of originaltrilogy.com forum members, MySpleen can loosely be viewed as an extension of this forum's user base.

Kind reagards,

-A.S.

Just wondering if anyone who was able to get the Conan mobile version would be willing to put it up on myspleen or any type of file sharing place like uploaded.net? No one is seeding the one on PB, and that's probably because it's public. I'm sure a lot more people would feel comfortable seeding on myspleen. And places like uploaded.net would work great too since it's only 2.74 GB. Unfortunately, I don't have the computer space for the 45 GB version at the moment. So the mobile version is my only option. Or if anyone eventually starts sending out burned copies I'd love to get in on that as well.:)
