In order to crank up the contrast and make the blackness of space more dense as MeBeJedi has been doing, and in the process trying to make those boxes (garbage mattes) around the ships look less obvious (or dissapear), there is bound to be some loss of detail both in very light and very dark scenes. There has to be a middleground I think. And maybe the TR47 version is just that. We´ll have to see more comparison before we can decide which transfer is the best and truest to the original work.
