Are American Pie films as crap as they sound?
Bear in mind I once sat through all the Austin Powers films in one go because a friend said they weren't as bad as they sounded and in my view they were much, much worse.

It doesn't surprise me that the guy who is afraid of chocolate covered bananas also uses homophobic slurs.

Well, the 1st one was quite funny and had its moments. But as with films such as these that spawn shameless cash ins, the sequels were utter garbage.

Maybe he meant the dancing cigarette.

Austin Powers is vastly superior to American Pie.
If it's the potty humor you object to, I'm editing that stuff out right now.
I think it's the general lack of laughs from my mouth parts.
I find Mr Myers less amusing than his Haddonfield namesake.
Halloween 5 is much more funny than Austin Powers 2.

The first AP is a great raunchy comedy. The second one has moments but doesn't do much new. The third was a letdown, and the fourth film from last year was enjoyable but nothing special.
All in all if you're looking for some naughty jokes or a pang of sweet childhood nostalgia you'll have fun with the AP movies.

Thanks for the responses. I'm getting a general impression that if I try the first one and don't like it I should stop but if I do like it the others are slightly less but a little bit more of the same and might be worth a visit.
I've only seen the first one (American Pie), and I thought it was absolute shit. It relies on dumb immature sexual humor and little else for laughs.
It is about a group of high school boys making a pact to lose their virginity, and the misadventure and awkward over the top hilarity that ensues on their quest. So yeah, if you are 14, or an anti-social virgin of any age, you might find it really awesome.
I agree with Fink, Austin Powers is vastly superior to American Pie, and I pretty much can't stand Austin Powers. But at least the first Austin Powers has some genuinely funny moments and is a parody of something other than just high school sexuality.

Until you said "the fourth film" I wasn't sure which AP you were talking about.
Also, C3PX is exactly right.
I was talking about American Psycho.

Hey! If you're gonna cheat on your dude, it better be with me and my beard!
This has got to be the funniest image I've ever seen in an Indiana Jones comic book.
Well, it finally had to be done. We put our dog to sleep. She was getting older and older and weaker and weaker. She was just about deaf and blind. She had liver problems that were bound to start bothering her. She had cancer in her mouth that was bound to start bothering her. She also had problems with her trachea. The last straw tonight was that she had a seizure. We could tell she wasn't going to get any better and was suffering and was just going to have more seizures. She had another at the vets before we put her to sleep.
R. I. P. Buffy. You were a good dog and I love you and will miss you. : (
Buffy Lives!
It's not easy losing a loved one so Warb has my sympathies but if she is anything like the slightly more famous Buffy she may return in some form and probably start dating a cat.
Totally unrelated to that sad news I read about the Ubuntu forum hack and it reminded me of seeing this awful thing done to a bit of my childhood.
It's sort of the same reason we are all here.
