Papai, you were right, I was wrong... please accept my apologies!

It seems that I messed up the addborders line, adding twice it...

Well, here you are the correct clip #2: sendspace

To be forgiven, choose 40-60 seconds of footage for test clip #3!

Its alright yaar (means "friend"), you don't have to apologize for this small error. Its okay you have fixed it, no problem. Besides remember, this is your project, it is because of your effort that we are getting it, so we're all thankful to you for that! A little error can occur, the thing is to fix it. And I'm glad to have been of help to you!

Just saw the clip now- The lines are still visible, though video looks better and less hazier now. What's the deal with those "lines", this didn't happen in Jurassic Park project, why in this? See if you can find a way around this problem.

If you're putting one video on top of another, then I think the aligning is not coming perfect. See if you can do anything.

Papai, when I'm wrong, I apologize, also with my friends... and yes, thanks to your help, I avoided two or more days of futile conversion...

I've redone the same clip, this time only using ONE capture... if you could still see those lines, it's clearly NOT in the median process... here you are the link

But, if you could still see those lines in this clip, but NOT in the single capture at original resolution, the problem lies in the denoise script... strange, because I used the same script, verbatim, for both JP2 and these clips...

The clip was better. But the lines are visible, only minutely. Not a big problem now. Look closely and you can see.

I will be out of town for two days.

In these last days, I fought with the DTS conversions... I was sure everything was right, but something sounds wrong at the end of the DTS converted soundtrack, so I'm working on it - right now, too...

Video checking will be the next thing.

As JP1 DTS soundtrack was right - but done using a previous setup, as my HD was "accidentally formated" (oO_), I've done another conversion, just to see if my present software setup is faulty... but everything was OK, so... there is some faulty cables (I used the same optical one for both captures), or JP2 DTS laserdisc has some glitches, or the last time I used CLD-D925 to capture DTS (this last thing I don't remember clearly, as I've done so many captures for both JP1 and JP2...)

Tomorrow I'll capture again the DTS laserdiscs, using the D925 this time, or the 909 with a coaxial cable instead the optical one; I'll write here the conclusions (positive, I hope).

I hope so too!

BTW, if the Pal video doesn't work or creates the problems that I previously stated here (zagged lines), then try to capture the video from the NTSC DTS and NTSC AC3 laserdiscs and see how they look compared to the PAL one.

All the best!

IMPORTANT UPDATES:

audio:

As wrote before, I recaptured the NTSC DTS laserdisc, because its DTS soundtrack was faulty; this time, even if I used the same laserdisc player with the same connection, all is OK, and the DTS soundtrack ready for the BD version is perfect!

Don't know why, but the previous captures had some duplicate/missing frames, but virtualdub didn't recognize them as dropped frames... maybe was because one of my cats jumped onto the laserdisc player (more than once) during the capture... _,,,^..^,,,_

Well, right now the AC3 and DTS english, and PCM italian and french soundtracks are ready; I think I'll capture the PCM english soundtrack from the AC3 laserdisc, but don't know if it's worth the time to capture the mono soundtrack from the same disc, and/or the analog stereo soundtrack from the DTS laserdisc...

video:

as suggested by Papai, I've redone the clip #2 using the DTS NTSC video, captured at 720x480; this time the result is really better, take a look at the clip - SENDSPACE (40MB)

A picture is worth a thousand words, so...

original unprocessed captures, top NTSC, bottom PAL:

...restoration rule #37: "PAL is NOT always better than NTSC"...

Papai2013, you are now the official [ruLes] video quality tester!

Waiting for a confirmation that this time video is good enough, so I could start the (long) conversion.

I don't think its necessary to capture the mono track because None of the Jurassic Park films were designed to be heard in mono. JP, as I heard was released in 5 channel Dolby and 6 channel DTS, was it not? The Lost World was also released in Dolby SR prints and DTS prints.

The clip is much better, but you have to De-Interlace it. When the T-Rex stops near the edge of the city and roars, do a step forwarding (frame by frame), you'll notice the NTSC interlaced lines (around the jaws of the Rex) . Now they are still visible after I applied the de-interlace filter in VLC, that means you have to create a solid de-interlacing script in Avisynth and Virtualdub. The de-interlace script has to be strong and effective so the interlace lines aren't visible. Because every time there is movement, these interlaced lines will be distracting to watch.

Let me know!

And thanks for that designation. Glad to have helped!

Video is ready, all audio tracks are ready, english and french subtitles too... the only missing thing is the italian subtitle file, as I have not found any on the net... so, I will type by hand it... I think I'll finish in a couple of days, so probably JP2 will be released before the week-end!

How is it coming Andrea? Haven't heard from you a long time?

Sorry, I was busy lately... as I'd like to release it with the italian subs, I started to work at the literal subtitles myself... it's hard, I didn't remember how much is time consuming... today I reached 30%, and it was though... I told to myself: "Who cares? Let's release it with standard italian subs..." then brain suggested me... "Don't you remember that you searched a whole day WITHOUT finding it?"...

So, I'm stuck with it, I started the job (doing the italian subs) and I'll finish it... it will took some days, as to make, let's say, 10%, I worked for some hours... it's hard to listen to the lines, stop the movie, write down the lines, come back to the movie - five seconds earlies - to discover that I wrote something wrong, then stop again, back to the subs, make corrections, and again, and again...

But don't worry, JP2 project is still alive! As it is waiting the subs, I thought also to add the PCM soundtrack... it's not really needed, as it has both the AC3 and DTS soundtrack, but if someone feels that is really necessary...

Hi Andrea.

Eagerly awaiting Lost World and am looking forward to seeing another excellent Laserdisc preservation.

I'm hoping you got the theatrical DTS track from JF and added it?

Ciao.

Yes, I have received the DTS cinema files from JF, but I decided to not use them... even if the 5.0 channels are similar to the laserdisc ones, the 0.1 channel is overly active, as it is taken from the rear channels and filtered below 80Hz, while the laserdisc 0.1 is active when it must be, as it was designed as a proper low frequency channel... I preferred to use the laserdisc DTS soundtrack, it seems the logical choice to me, as its soundtrack is designed specifically for home theater use.

UPDATES:

I have released the BD version - is available right now on myspleen. Enjoy!

Xlnt!

Congratulations on getting another project out the door!

While I would have liked to have the theatrical DTS to satisfy my curiosity, I agree with your decision.

DL'ing now.

So, what are you doing next?

Congrats on finishing this long project! I imagine it must have been frustrating at times. Great that you've finished it! Will be downloading it soon!

Take a break from the computer for some time, and enjoy a nice holiday in the lap of nature, countryside perhaps? You need it! It'll rejuvenate and refresh you.

Then you can come back and release the THX, Dolby and DTS logo trailers on the laserdiscs of JP and TLW:JP, and the high-res scans of the Laserdisc Cover arts of both.

Star Trek word for a new Enterprise alien race? (^^,)

Congratulations on getting another project out the door!

Thanks!

I'm also really curious, but I'm happy you agree with my decision.

DL'ing now.

Good luck! 21+ GB will take a LOOONG time... I'm trying to improve uploading speed using uTorrent... any hint is really appreciated!

So, what are you doing next?

So much ideas, so little time! P.M. me for more info.

Thanks! Infact, I'm a little disappointed (with myself) to have not finished the italian subtitles...

If only I have time (and money) to do it...

Ah ha, at last! (^^,) OK, it will be made along with JP and TLW extras! I'll do a BD-50 project, "JP 1+2+extras", using the same files I uploaded for the movies, so if someone have downloaded the movies previously, it will be possible only to take the extras and keep the other files!

Hi Andrea.

Are you seeding this? There's a bunch of us who have been stuck on 53% for three days.

Just need a few more days to get it in the can and I will seed indefinitely.

Sorry, I was out for a week, and probably the line went down three days ago... right now it's up again, and seeding... hope you all will finish to download it soon!

And, of course, I'm waiting some feedback here!
