The Butterfly Room (2012)
I've been wanting to see this movie for months now, and I wish I could say that it was amazing and that I loved it, but it was just simply adequate.
The story worked, the direction - while nothing stellar - was decent, the way the whole butterfly collecting aspect of the film tied into the plot was morbidly quaint, and it was interesting to see Barbara Steele in a modern movie. The score could have been better, however, and the characters more fully developed - with the sole exception of Barbara Steele's character, everyone came off as rather flat and - for lack of a better term - nebulous; this is especially true for Heather Langenkamp's character, who - especially in light of the film's ending - should have had more scenes devoted to her (and no, I'm not just saying this as a diehard fan who needs a Langenkamp fix).
