Okay besides in the 2006 DVD, which other home releases of the original Star Wars don't say "Episode IV: A NEW HOPE" in the title?

I could be wrong, but I think the 2006 GOUT DVD was the first official home release lacking that.

Every known video release from 1982 onwards was Episode IV.

Where were you in '77?

Before 2006 the only OFFICIAL way how to see the crawl was to buy the 2004 DVD set. A part of the crawl was shown in the documentary Empire of Dreams.

Some 16mm's didn't have ANH and most of the 8mm didn't have any crawl.
