Help Wanted: Pulling audio from Animorphics or TR-47

Hi guys

Anyone know if it is possible to extract the audio files from either the Animorphics or TR-47 DVD-R’s into separate, isolated audio tracks, ie left, right, centre, surround etc.

What I want to do is extract specific parts of the audio for to dub over parts of the SE. Ie a piece of dialogue without the music in the background or just the musis without the dialogue and sound effects for example.

I know its possible with standard DVD’s and the 5.1 audio files but not sure if its possible with the TR-47 or Animorphics?

Any thoughts?

Oops, no. Sorry. You'd either need the master tapes for that (good luck!) or a copy of the movie soundtracks and/or something like "The Story of Star Wars" for dialogue.

Believe me, I've tried to isolate dialogue/effects for various reasons, and it always sounds like crap.

That being said, most dialogue in a 5.1 mix comes from the center channel, but I would imagine you are trying to avoid some of that very same dialgue from the official DVDs, right?

interestingly enough, my buddy's tuner/amp (a can never keep those two terms clear) has a button called "midnight mode" for watching movies late, it's supposed to be quiet right. Anyway, when you use it on TPM, you lose the voice track, and are just left with music and sound effects. So maybe it's possible, I dunno.

I think its for those aforementioned reasons. Stereo is through the front left and front right speakers and as he said the majority of dialogue is through the center channel, and less with the front left and right (almost none through the rear surrounds).

Technically, it levels out the range of volume, so that loud noises aern't as loud as the dialogue. This means you can turn it up to hear the actors, with having to race and turn down the volume when something blows up. However, DVDs have to be encoded to use this feature. That's interestring about TPM. I'll have to see what it does on mine. Is your friend listening to it in 5.1 or stereo mode?

I'm actually not attempting to isolate tracks from the official releases, rather from the bootlegs. I didn't think it was possible but just thought I'd throw this question out there in case there is a piece of software out there that will allow me to do it.
