To comment further on Redblade, the problem with it is that there is no reason for Anakin to have that name other than the fact that the audience knows that he has one later on. If Anakin starts out as a pilot with no aspirations to become a Jedi in this version of his story, he would probably not reference an obscure Jedi weapon in his name. A name, especially a nickname, is extremely useful in communicating the personality of a character. Anakin's nickname could communicate more without being self-aware.
