How would you transition into the opening credits with the Klingon capture scene? Maybe after Spock's birth?

6) Jim's brother

7) Kirk on car (does anybody have a good copy of the trailer ? It's not on the DVD and I need the scene of the car hitting the road without "IOWA" written in the top left corner)

Have you found a source to redub Johnny with "Sammy" "Sam", "George" or "Georgie"? (Kirk's brother is George Samuel Kirk. "Johnny" was an edit they made after removing Kirk's brother from the script)

If you can't get him to yell the real name of Kirk's brother, could you just have him yell the word "Hay" only? Just cut out Johnny....

I've been thinking to do it either "hay hay hay" or just one "hay" and replace the couple of second with the correct part of "Sabotage"

Good idea - but then he might not even need to call out anything. The brother can still see him drive by and wonder what is going on.

re: the McCoy scene, i can't recall exactly where it was, if i find it again soon enough i'll let you guys know...As i recall it wasn't footage from the film cameras just doco stuff. but the quality should be decent.

7) Kirk on car (does anybody have a good copy of the trailer ? It's not on the DVD and I need the scene of the car hitting the road without "IOWA" written in the top left corner)

not sure what you mean here, or did you mean Kirk IN car?

I'm pretty sure that ALL the main trailers are on the bluray. do you mean when the car flies around the corner of the intersection, or something else?

Check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiHeviygXw8 - in the part around 0:09 . In the finished movie there is "IOWA" written in the top left corner. I have only the PAL R2 DVD and the trailer is not here, which is quite a shock for me

I finally got to see the deleted scenes today.  A few are quite awesome, including the full Kobayashi Maru scenes (though it does make Kirk more of a bastard).

A weird thought... is anyone else put off by the idea that the Kobayashi Maru is "Spock's test"?  Heck I'm not sure I buy that he's so important to the Academy.  I guess they needed some excuse to bring a higher ranking character in with those still being trained.

Anyway, this is really just an elaborate bump to see if there is any progress.

I felt that it was a bit too much myself. But it kind of keeps continuity in that in Star Trek V, Spock was the one who designed the escape proof brig cells for Star Fleet. I just felt this new gag was another of the films nods to the old original cast formula. The movie is full of them.

It does however seem to explain the mystery of why in ST II,  Spock says he never took the test himself.

How many deleted scenes made it into the comic adaptation that is currently in progress?

Rura Penthe was established as an ice planet in Star Trek VI. A planet where without proper clothing, no humanoid lifeforms could survive for very long on the surface.

Could you guys add in a few snow flakes and a bit of ice? Or could you make it look like this is underground or under some type of dome?

Isn't Delta Vega supposed to be a desertish Planet too? I believe they established that in TOS.

Reminds me of the Robot Chicken Star Wars bit where the serpent creature dismissed the notion of a planet defined by a single geographic feature. :)  No, what we saw of Delta Vega, in the TOS 2nd pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before" didn't establish much, other than they beamed down to a temperate region. It was an apparently strip-mined area near the lithium cracking station. Thick storm  clouds were in the distance. In the remastered edition, the clouds were subtly moving behind the station's structures, with rain streaks falling from them. (The streaks might be in the original background as well - blu ray needs to be installed here, to check).

In any case, this would have to be a different "Delta Vega", as the TOS one was extremely close to the rim of the galaxy. (Annoys me that they lifted the name, it worked against the movie's careful attention to trivia. The intention was probably to call back to the episode's sense of you-don't-want-to-be-stranded-here). IIRC, there was a single bush seen in that artificially-barren region.

To get pendantic, as is my wont, an "ice planet" would have to have considerable vegetation, somewhere, in order to have a breathable atmosphere. In TNG, using microbes to achieve an atmosphere, in any reasonable time frame, seemed to be somewhat cutting edge. And in TOS "The Cloud Minders", the botanical plague threatened to wipe out the source of a planet's oxygen. Heck this one even had monsters - animal life.

So, anyway, I generally liked the movie. My full opinion will hinge on the next movie(s). And I'd also much rather have a series - movies have to be "big, big big", gets in the way of substance, and the actors age too dang much between movies.

Looking forward to this edit.

Wish I could pitch in. So little time for fandom stuff, anymore. My attempts to get more educated with compositing, CGI, et. al, leave me spinning my wheels, trying to get over the starting line. :-\ (Any starting line). Never enough time to really dig in.

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

Download  shows from Cable DVR (Updated! Yes, it needs a rewrite, but it's worth slogging through, anyway).

Has the extended cut been finished by the fans working on it? I couldn't find your work anywhere in the Internet so I was wondering if there is a link from where I can download it and see it.

Thanks a lot

Just want to add to Ravenger's request here.

I've been dying for an extended version of Star Trek (2009), and having searched the internet far and wide, this is the only solid thing I've been able to find.

Was the extended cut ever finished, and if so, any pointers as to where one might find it?

I would offer the DTS cinema audio for the Theatrical version if it could help out the project.

One could probably decode it to .WAV and make an AC3 soundtrack so one could add in the audio from the deleted/extended scenes seamlessly.  It would probably make for a special version of the film.

Just a thought anyways .....

I actually ended up doing my own version during the summer. It became a fanedit as I ended up removing the Spock/Kirk Childhood moments. My version included all the klingon scenes, extended green girl scene and the extended kobayashi maru test.

I had to throw in a klingon warbird from an older movie to replace the unfinished cg for the surrounded narada. It happens so quick and with subtitles on the screen, you don't notice.

The movie gives Nero a much better story and makes kirk even more of a douche but I like it.

I never put it on the net, just burned a bluray 1080p with 5.1 for myself.

My extended version "died" on the fact that I never found any special effects "volunteer"

Out of curiosity, were you planning to upload this? Be interesting to see.

It's been 25 years since Nero (Eric Bana) came through a time rift into the alternate reality of 2009's Star Trek. Nero has been waiting for Spock to come through the same rift considering that, of course, he blames Spock for destroying Romulus with Spock's invention, red matter. We see that Nero's hardly aged a day and looks relatively the same. Except for the fact that the points on one of his damn ears is missing!

Romulans are close relatives of Vulcans which have very long lifespans.

It's possible Nero wouldn't look much older. The ear point missing gives the impression of time passing even if you didn't know he was in a Klingon prison.

Because of the most recent film, I actually now care less about this edit ever coming out. I've decided to just avoid the rebooted Treks.
