Are Muslims really trying to take over, or are some people just suffering from Islamaphobia? — Page 15

Do you have Islamic friends?

Not saying you are racist, but your black friends have nothing to do with this.  You can be racist against one specific race.

JEDIT: Race, Religion, Whatever :p

Yes he is. That is what I mean, the two English guys continually make themselves sound like racist hillbillies from the sticks.

Now you are being insulting and ignorant. I am no racist. Do you even know what the word means?

I only said I do not see the benefits of lax immigration policy and multiculturalism. I would be delighted if you can point me some practical benefits of it. I asked TV's Frink earlier and he couldn't give me anything.

Oh and btw I am not English.

A religion doesn't define it's followers by race. Any member of the human 'race' can follow any religion. A religion is a set of ideologies and beliefs that followers of that religion live their life according to. A 'white' Muslim or a 'black' Muslim is a misnomer. They are a Muslim.

race n. 1 each of the major divisions of humankind, each having distinct physical characteristics.

so disliking the religion of Islam is NOT racist.

It's a very worrying trend at the moment to label anyone a racist when they speak out about certain cultures or the immigration problem and what is happening in this country. You can no longer speak out about anything without the "bigot" or "racist" label being thrown at you.

Two examples:

1) I find the Burka to be offensive. They shouldn't be allowed to wear it because it can cause offense.

2) i find you wearing that cross around your neck offensive. You should be made to take it off because it could cause offence

Both exactly the same type of comments. But if you say #1 then you're branded a bigot and a racist. Say #2 and that person could be forced to remove their cross, yet the person who said it has none of those labels attached to them. People have even been sacked because they refused to remove a cross on a necklace.

People should be allowed to wear whatever they like.

It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is.

So America are now prepared to arm the Syrian Rebels because they say that the president has used chemical weapons. I'd be very wary of this. It was a very small amount used. Doesn't this ring alarm bells with anyone? Top experts have warned that these weapons were used by the rebels (the UN's investigator Carla del Ponte informed them about this after her investigation), in order to get the support of other nations and they were not used by Assad. But what's more worrying is that it is known that Al Qaeda is fighting alongside the rebels (same thing as what was happening in Lybia). So, if America start providing this military support, they are in danger of arming those they are supposed to be fighting against.

There are some terrible things happening over there, but is it all that we are being told it is? Rebels executed a 15 year old boy in front of his parents because they claimed he used the profit Muhammad's name in an offensive manner. And we've seen the pictures of the rebels eating one of the government soldiers hearts. Is this really the type of people that we should be helping? Also videos of Rebels training to use chemical weapons surfaced.

I'm hoping the Uk stays well out of this but the chances of that happening are slim to none. Shouldn't we be listening to those independent investigators instead of brushing their reports to one side without any evidence to refute their reports?

And, before any one suggests that this is another Anti-American post by a Brit, it isn't. I'm curious to know what you guys over there think about all this.

Well either way, C3 wasn't the only one in this thread labelling people racist for no reason. Guess who else did it (in a quite direct manner)?

Phew! My mistake. Score one for the English!

With the generalizing and shit talking you've been doing, you're hardly one to complain about someone being insulting. Or would it have been better had I added the words, "No offense" to the end of my last post?

Thank you, Fink.

Yeah, I've accused absolutely nobody of being racist.

Racism is a form of intolerance toward those who are different. What you guys are demonstrating is a form of intolerance. I'm the guy here who speaks out pretty harshly against Islam and takes flak for it. I understand where you guys are coming from, and I clearly see the dangers of fundamental Islam and much of the baggage it carries. But sheer intolerance of that religion will get you nowhere, and only makes matter worse. There are a lot of fantastic people who happen to be Muslims that are very fond of and attached to their faith who only wish to work and make a living in our countries.

Complaining about street signs in Spanish/Arabic and bitching about them not knowing your language just feels petty to me. Pick your battles. A stance against the enforcement of backwards stone age fundamentalism is more than reasonable. Getting worked up over people living in your country who don't know English (GASP!), feels more intolerant than anything else. It is a minor inconvenience to you perhaps, in the likely rare event you find yourself needing to talk to one of them, but it has got to be many times worse for them. Living in London without knowing English has got to be really difficult. Is their lack of English proficiency really genuinely harming you in any way?

This isn't the sort of thing I'd ever perceive to be anti-American. So many Americans agree with you that this sort of thing is a bunch of bullshit.

I would love to see America pull itself out of world politics. We have no business there. Stop blowing billions of our tax dollars in foreign aid on countries that don't even like us, and stop sending our stupid kids to kill and die in countries we ought to have no business in.

So someone sounds like a racist? They are not racist but they sure sound like one. What? So what are they then? Someone who is against an inherently violent, repressive religion isn't a racist, but SOUNDS like a racist? Is that what you mean? If so, then don't bring that word into the debate. Because race and religion are two words that have no connection to one another. Has anyone ever regarded Muslims as 'the Muslim race'?. I don't think so somehow.

You're sounding ridiculous, I explained the relevant connection in detail already. Post 370.
